Principal Report
Mrs Deborah Crane
Thank you to our wonderful families for their communication and feedback.
We value our community and endeavour to provide a link between home and school.
I would like to thank the families that attended Ms McAlister's Homework forum at school and those that participated in the online survey.
Parent, Staff and Students have now all provided feedback on the current status and thoughts about improvements. Further communication will be undertaken once Ms McAlister collates all feedback and Homework for 2025 has a set plan of action.
This week the whole staff reviewed family , student and their own feedback and discussed Homework and the development of consistency and expectations for both home and school.
We will be developing a consistent and manageable program for homework across all levels across the school for all staff, students and families! Win-Win!
Thank you to the 38% of families who did the parent opinion survey. We will wait for our data profiles to return to unpack any areas needed for improvement and celebrate all that we are doing well. I do assume that due to the low number of families undertaking the survey that our parents and families are pleased with the schooling and Education that is happening at PVNPS. We believe we are doing an excellent job in both learning and wellbeing for all students and ensuring that students have enthusiasm and motivation for learning.
Some additional feedback we have rceived...
We will endeavour to reduce the number of COMPASS posts and reduce the number of reminders - as we have sent out a few over the past few weeks. We do apologise.
We have had a number of events at the school and therefore all our main form of communication is via COMPASS. Thank you to those who have provided me with some constructive feedback!
We had the Department come out and undertake a tree audit a few weeks ago and they have agreed to undertake all our pruning and tree lopping for our school.
They did state that we had some trees that were decaying and quite dangerous - for example there is a large tree where we keep our worm farms that has split right in the middle and will need to be totally removed. These works will be undertaken in the next few weeks.
We are highly respectful at PVNPS and undertake a great deal of acknowledgment within our curriculum and teaching and learning programs to include our true history, including European settlement, migration and our cultural diversity - it is important for our children to know and understand our past, present and future.
Therefore, thank you to the parents who provide us with their thoughts and feedback and we do listen and value your voice, however, please also be mindful we must take into consideration all voices and our curriculum and not just one!
We have on many occasions sought counsel with the department's Koorie Liaison officer for events and areas involving our Koorie Education program.
We are currently sending in an application to meet with the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung - Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation to assist us with the naming of our indigenous garden.
