Tertiary Immersion Day

Exploring What's Next
As part of Camps and Pathways Week 2026, our Year 11 students took part in Tertiary Immersion Day, which was a fantastic opportunity to step onto university campuses and experience firsthand what life beyond secondary school has to offer.
Students visited the University of Melbourne, JMC Academy, Torrens University, Victoria University and Monash Parkville, gaining valuable insights into the courses, facilities, culture and opportunities available across a diverse range of tertiary institutions.
From research-intensive universities to creative and industry-focused academies, the day offered students a broader and more informed picture of the pathways available to them as they begin making important decisions about their future.
Experiencing different campus environments, speaking with staff and current students, and imagining themselves in those spaces made the prospect of life after Nossal feel both exciting and achievable. We hope the day has sparked curiosity, inspired new thinking, and helped our Year 11 students take one confident step closer to designing the future that is right for them.
On Friday, we had the incredible opportunity to visit the Torrens University Melbourne campus on Flinders Street! During our visit, we attended a presentation outlining the wide range of courses offered at Torrens, including programs in health, design, technology, and hospitality. We were also given a guided tour of the university’s practical, hands-on facilities, such as design studios, hospitality and business spaces, simulated concierge desks, hotel rooms, as well as medical clinics and nursing rooms.
This experience allowed me to explore fields of study I had not previously considered. I also found interesting, Torrens’ specialised programs, such as the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School, which offered practical experiences in Management studies!
Following this, we visited the University of Melbourne Parkville Campus for another university immersion experience. We attended a presentation about the numerous pathways, courses, residential programs and student life offered at Melbourne Uni, before taking part in a guided campus tour led by student ambassadors. We were also fortunate to speak with past Nossal graduates currently studying at Melbourne, who shared their experiences, transitions, and insights into life after Nossal. It was an extremely insightful experience to be able to explore so many different aspects of university life during our immersion!
Overall, visiting both universities was a highly valuable experience that broadened my understanding of future study options. Thank you to all the teachers and tertiary providers who made this opportunity possible!
