Welcome & Important Dates

Welcome
The Level Six team extends a warm welcome to all GWPS families—both those returning and those joining us for the first time—as we embark on another exciting year of learning. It has been a pleasure reconnecting with familiar faces and getting to know the new families in our community. We are honoured to support and guide your child throughout their final year of primary school. Year Six offers a variety of unique experiences and challenges, providing opportunities to explore personal interests, spark creativity, build leadership skills, take part in memorable events and celebrate achievements as a community.
This year, our highly capable Level Six team consists of seven team members. Six of our team members are existing GWPS teaching staff, who may have already worked with your child in some capacity across the school. Mr Dante Sciessere (Teaching and Learning Leader) is teaching 6A. Mr Robert Lou (Assistant Teaching and Learning Leader) is teaching 6B. Ms Kristy Chua is teaching 6C. Ms Rebecca Parish, Mr Jonathon Pereira, and Ms Kimberley Stevenson are teaching 6D, 6E and 6F respectively. We would like to warmly welcome Miss Demi O’Shea 6G to our school and team. Collectively, the Level Six team will bring many years of teaching experience, passion and knowledge towards educating our students. Please read below for a more detailed introduction of each team member.
Meet the Team...
Meet Mr Sciessere (6A) - Teaching & Learning Leader
Hi everyone, I’m the Level Six Teaching and Learning Leader, and this is my fifth year at Glen Waverley Primary School. I’ve loved teaching Level Six learners and am excited to continue doing so this year. My favourite subjects to teach are Mathematics and The Resilience Project.
Here’s a little more about me:
- I’ve travelled to 14 countries outside of Australia. I love getting on a plane and exploring outside of Australia.
- I have a real love for making coffee—there’s nothing like a good brew!
- I’m very keen on sports. I play football, and I’m also a big fan of Formula One, basketball, and football.
Meet Mr Lou (6B) - Assistant Teaching & Learning Leader
Hi everyone, my name is Robert Lou and I have the pleasure of teaching 6B. 2026 will be my seventh year as a primary school teacher and my seventh year as a part of the Glen Waverley Primary School family. I am looking forward to this another wonderful year in Level Six, especially since I have taught many of the students when they were in Year One in 2022. So far, I can already tell that 6B are a very enthusiastic, passionate and energetic group. As an educator, I love mathematics, science and digital technology, as they were my areas of interest when I was in school. Outside of school, I like to spend my time cooking, socialising with friends, playing video games, watching anime, and collecting Magic the Gathering trading cards. If your child has any interest in these areas, please encourage them to have a conversation with me! If you see me around the school grounds, feel free to come and say hello!
Meet Ms Chua (6C)
Hi everyone, my name is Kristy Chua and I am looking forward to another wonderful year in Grade 6 again. This is my second year at Glen Waverley Primary School, and I am thrilled to be teaching 6C this year and working with your children in their final year of primary school. Outside the classroom, I enjoy exploring new cafes and restaurants, indulging in a variety of cuisines, and discovering new hiking spots. I look forward to building strong connections with both students and families this year and fostering an inclusive learning environment for all students. I can’t wait to see all the wonderful things we’ll achieve together in 2026!
Meet Ms Parish (6D)
Hello all! I am Rebecca Parish, and this year I am lucky to be teaching 6D. This is my third year at Glen Waverley Primary School, and I am looking forward to being in the Grade 6 team again. The learners have already shown their passion and interests, and I am delighted to be working with this group in their final year of primary school. We have all sorts of exciting learning and experiences to look forward to, such as interschool sport, camp and excursion. Outside of school I enjoy camping, hiking, baking, making crafts and spending time with friends and family. I look forward to meeting you and working together to support your child.
Meet Mr Pereira (6E)
Hello, Year 6 Families! My name is Jonathon Pereira and this year I will have the pleasure of teaching 6E. I will be going into my seventh year of teaching, with this being my third year at Glen Waverley Primary School. I look forward to introducing myself to you all throughout the year. It’s been wonderful getting to know all the students in 6E and it makes me excited for the experiences we are going to share in 2026. As an educator, I am big believer in building on students’ strengths and interests to best support their own learning journeys. Outside of the school yard, you will most likely see me at my local gym, riding around Melbourne on one of my bikes or parked outside a cafe consuming coffee until my heart’s content. If you see me around GWPS please feel free to come say g’day!
Meet Ms Stevenson (6F)
Hello everyone! My name is Kimberley Stevenson, and I am delighted to be the teacher of 6F this year! I value building strong, positive relationships within my class to support learners in becoming the best versions of themselves. Through this, I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where everyone can thrive, lean into their interests, and enjoy their last year of primary school! Outside of the classroom, I enjoy gardening, hiking, camping, crafting and baking! I like to keep active by fitting in a few runs and Pilates sessions during the week. I also love travelling and value spending quality time with my family and friends, often coming together to share big meals and plenty of laughs!
Meet Miss O'Shea (6G)
Hello everyone, my name is Demi O'Shea, and this year I am very excited to be teaching the wonderful 6G! This is my first year of teaching, making this also my first year at Glen Waverley Primary School. I am looking forward to being a part of your child's final year of primary school. They have already shown great enthusiasm towards their learning and creating memories as they embark on their final journey here, in year 6. Outside of school I have many interests such as, travel, going to the beach, watching sport, anything involving art, and finding new cafes! After recently moving from a small, rural community in North Queensland, all the way to Melbourne Victoria, I am very excited to explore all that this beautiful area has to offer. I look forward to meeting you and having the opportunity to support your child this year.
In addition to our teaching team, in the classroom we will be supported by the incredibly experienced Targeted Student Learning (TSL) teachers, and our dedicated Education Support team. The Level Six team looks forward to connecting with families during our various school events. Our upcoming ‘Getting to Know You Interviews’ will help form a critical part of the Home/School Partnership and set your child up for success. As always throughout the year, we encourage you to contact us if you have any queries regarding your child’s learning or wellbeing. We are looking forward to a successful year ahead.
