News of the Week

Dear Parents and Friends,
Welcome to our St Brigid’s Student Newsletter! We’re excited to share all the latest news, achievements, and upcoming events from our school community. We hope you enjoy reading it and feel proud of everything happening at St Brigid’s.
Cubby Houses
On our first day of the week, we were happily surprised by our new cubby houses, newly made, and a lot of people are playing in them. We were very happy and excited to see them and they look amazing in our school. A VERY BIG thank you to Zach Slee, Andy Collins and Shannon Slee for driving the fork lift!
Pancake Tuesday
Pancake Tuesday is also known as Shrove Tuesday. It is the day before Lent and is celebrated by eating pancakes.
Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, where we are blessed with a cross on our forehead with ashes as a sign that we are not perfect. Our Year 3-6 students received the ashes at St Louis with Fr Michael and F-2 received ashes at a liturgy led by some of our Year 6 students.
Lent
Lent is the countdown to Easter. It is 40 days but skips each Sunday for the countdown to Jesus' resurrection. It is a time to rest and become a better person because Jesus has given his life for us.
Project Compassion is an annual fundraiser and awareness for those who have less than us. It is a time to help others in need, by donating money to Caritas, Your donations help supply those in need with fresh water and give them an education, so please help us make a difference.
Now here are a few responses from Year 1 to Year 6 for what they may be giving up or taking on for Lent?
