Year 3 Class Report

Miss Dicello & Miss Ravanello

Numeracy

This term in Maths, the Grade 3 students began with doing some number revision. We tapped into their prior knowledge and worked on consolidating some of their prior understandings. Then, we focussed on Data and Graphing. We introduced ‘Potato Olympics’ where students designed their own potato olympians, had them participate in a variety of measurement events. They then used the data from the events and constructed a graph. Now, students are developing their Chance and Probability knowledge. The Grade 3’s are using appropriate vocabulary words to decide the likelihood of an event occuring and trialing a number of mathematical experiments.

Literacy & FLI

As part of our Faith Life learning in Term 4, students delved into the topic of Geography. The central question of the term was, "How and why places are similar and different”. The students explored Australia’s states and territories as well as famous landmarks. Students were then partnered up and given a random country around the world to research. They provided their information in the form of an Information Report that was published using Google Slides. Student’s then reflected on their learning by making comparisons with Australia and their chosen country studied in their writing.

Out and About Day

WOW! What an incredible day the Grade 3 Out and About Day was! On Wednesday, the 15th of November, students participated in a variety of activities that tapped into different realms of learning. The Grade 3’s got to cook their own pizza lunch, pot a plant, participate in a science incursion, partake in a bucket filler task and finally, end the day with some mini sports events. The smiles said it all- true enjoyment, fun and happiness all round!
