Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people.

May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.

End of Year Celebrations

It is wonderful to see our staff & students, across all year levels, enjoying many extra-curricular activities at this time of the year.  It has been such a busy and rewarding year with great focus on student learning achievements from Kindergarten to Year Six - we have truly maximised our learning opportunities throughout the year. It’s time for staff and students, as well as our families, to reflect and enjoy special events together to see out the school year of 2023.

  • Congratulations to our Year Six students in our graduating class of 2023!  The students will celebrate together with a formal ceremony at school, next Monday 11th December.  We will share the scholarship winners at our Presentation Night, Thursday 14th December, as well as hear their very special Graduation Song.
  • Our Presentation Evening is Thursday 14th December.  At 5:30pm we warmly invite families onto the Medwell Oval to enjoy a family picnic (weather permitting), followed by the formal part of the evening, including class carols, from 6:00pm.
  • Our much-anticipated Christmas Carry-on tabloid event will be held on the final Friday of term and families are very welcome to join us in sharing some Christmas spirit and frivolity. Tabloid events will commence at 9:30 am.

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas...

Speaking of end-of-year celebrations, we are delighted to have had the opportunity to contribute to the feeling of Christmas across the Miners Rest Community this year. The Committee for Miners Rest provided our Kindergarten and School with a number of wooden pallet Christmas Trees to decorated and then provide back to the committee to be placed throughout the Miners Rest community over the Christmas period. This enormous, but very important, commitment to our community was passionately and capably lead by Emily Wood. I would like to formally acknowledge Emily and her family for the work that they gave to ensuring the trees were representative of all of the children at Miners Rest K-6 and thank her for leading this special community contribution. As Christmas draws closer, take the time to tour the Christmas Trees in the community and allow your child to find their very special bauble that they contributed.

2024 Specialists

We are pleased to continue to offer 4 specialist areas within our curriculum for 2024. STEM, PE, Performing Arts and Visual Arts will be continuing on a weekly basis in 2024. We are so very fortunate to have Linda Duke continuing with us in Performing Arts 2024!

Kitchen Garden Program remains a vision in our long-term plan. Due to budget constraints, this highly valued program will not be a scheduled program offered in 2024. With the introduction of the Mini-Miners Veggie Garden, we will however, continue working toward a planned return for this very engaging program in the future.
