"CHRISTMAS IS COMING!"

Avocado & Potato

For the past 2 weeks, Avocado and Potatoes have been our Hero Ingredient!

We have used avocado to make both sweet and savoury dishes;  chocolate mousse and delicious guacamole.

The potatoes came straight from the garden. We cut the potatoes into wedges and the students chose some herbs and spices to sprinkle on top. Once we had them in the oven, they were fantastic... and even more delicious dipped into the guacamole!!

Last, but not least we made some reindeer gingerbread biscuits that were a bit of fun in the Kitchen. I hope you manages some fun Christmas cooking at home this year too.

Every student in the school will be bringing home their very own cooking folder this week. It includes a collection of a few favourite recipes we have made throughout this year. The idea is that the students can continue adding recipes to their folder throughout their years at St Augustines. Recipes are available each fortnight in the school newsletter so they are always easy to access.

Wishing everyone a very happy and safe Christmas! I would like to take the opportunity to thank Jilda De Rango for being such a great member of the Kitchen & Garden Team this year.

Garden News

We had a beautiful visitor in the garden today.

A very healthy blue tongue lizard roaming the garden eating our peas.

We decided after admiring and holding her through lunchtime garden club we would release her back into our garden habitat. We are hoping she will come and visit again soon.

Our garden is blooming at the moment with an array of flowering flowers and flowering veggies.  Our Year3 /4 s created a feed garden bed. Planting lots of greens for our guinea pigs and rabbits to snack on.

Its also been a great week to talk about Recycling.  Our Sustainability Leaders captured all the ways we recycle in the garden and chatted to our classes about recycling in our classes.  Well Done.

Happy Gardening.
