News and Notices

From the Principal

Term 4 is such a busy term and there is always a buzz around school. We are busy with final assessments as well as finishing off projects. This happens in-between gymnastics, athletics, practices for Prizegiving and many other activities.

Coming up soon are our Disco on 8 December and our Prize Giving on 12 December. Year 5 and 6s also have their trip to Parakai to add to the list of events.

Important Dates

Please check and note the Dates for your Diary. Some parents are missing out on important information. Dates are written in this newsletter, and reminders are put on Class Dojo and sent via email.

Last Day of the School Year

School finishes at 12pm on Thursday 14 December 2024. There will be no After-school Care on this day.

Health Survey

Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the Health Survey. We had 55% of our families complete and return this. Your data shows that you consider the topics that we have covered in the last two years to be important.

Start of year conferences 2024

This year we are going to run our student conferences on Tuesday 30 January 2024. Each child will have a meeting with their class teacher to talk about their goals for the year and ask any questions they may have. Similarly, parents will have the opportunity to meet the teacher and share any information about their child that they feel the teacher needs to know.

I will send out a booking form and we will send you a reminder on 25 January 2024.

Classes will start on Wednesday 31 January 2024.

Market Day

We had a wonderful day last Wednesday for our Market Day. The children and staff worked so hard to get everything ready. Thank you to all those parents who supported our children. We made about $860.

We have had feedback that while everyone loves Market Day, Term 4 is not the best time to hold it. We are thinking of skipping Market Day in 2024 and holding our next one at the end of Term 1, 2025. We would love some feedback on this idea.

Atheletics Day

After our on again off again start to the morning, it was great to be able to hold our athletics day. I love the way our children support each other and how they are always up for a challenge.

We are taking a group of 12 children to Kristin for the Inter-school Athletics on Tuesday 28 November 2023.

Samosa Fundraiser

Thank you to everyone who sold samosas. We made $687!

Prizegiving

This year our prizegiving is on Tuesday 12 December at 6pm. All our students are expected to attend in full school uniform. Each class will do an item and there will be some musical items as well. We conclude with farewelling our Year 6s and handing out prizes. We encourage everyone to bring a picnic and have a swim if the weather co-operates. We will sell sausages on this evening as well.

End of Year Disco

Our end of year disco is being held on Friday 8 December from 5.30 to 7pm. The theme is Christmas/Summer Holidays for those who like to dress up.

Out of School Care

Please make sure that you book your child in to Before and After School Care by either emailing office@ridgeview.school.nz or phoning the school on 027 593 5963.

Matchbox Cars

Do you have any small cars that you no longer need? We would love to take them off your hands.

Community Volunteers

I am still looking for opportunities to take small groups of children (3 or 4) into the community on Friday morning for an hour or two. If you know of someone we could help or something we could do, please make contact with the school.

Spare Clothes

Please can you make sure that your child has a spare set of clothes in their bag - it does not have to be school uniform. This is for all children.

Telephone Number

Our new telephone number is 027 593 5963.
