Victorian High Ability Program

Congratulations to our grade 5 and 6 students who participated in Victoria's High Ability Program (VHAP) this Semester for English and Mathematics. 

During Mathematics classes, students worked with participants from other schools to problem-solve complex mathematical tasks.  Our students showed that they are strong collaborators who are able to take the lead, think aloud, question and reflect.   Their ability to apply a broad range of mathematical strategies, formal and technical language, modelling and reasoning shows strength in their maths competencies  and understandings.  

During English classes, students were challenged to use critical thinking skills as they analysed complex texts and collaborated with others in the process. During the course ‘Power of the Pen’, they considered a world without writing, examined the history of writing, and had the opportunities to extend their story writing skills.
