Catherine Obst Public Speaking Competition
On Thursday, 23 November Endeavour participated in the Catherine Obst Public Speaking Competition. After a quick meeting in the morning, we all decided to hop into the Endeavour bus and we drove straight to the competition, held at Unity College in Murray Bridge. Once we arrived, we were treated to a welcome from the Unity College staff running the competition and then we delved straight into the competition. All speeches were very interesting, with each student adding their own spin to it.
After all of the speeches, we had lunch which was Subway accompanied with drinks and then the winners were announced. While we unfortunately didn’t win this year, Endeavour still performed well. After interacting with the rest of the students from the other schools, we all said our goodbyes and drove back to school.

If I Could Turn Back Time Exhibition
Throughout Term 4, the Year 8 cohort have been planning and researching for the ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’ History Exhibition that occurred on Wednesday, 29 November. The exhibition revolved around a topic that was chosen by each student. The topics could be chosen from Medieval Europe, Shogunate Japan or Polynesian expansion across the Pacific.
The project was formatted into steps, and each step required a certain type of information which would eventually be collated into a presentation that was complemented by posters and flyers containing extra information on our chosen topics.
The premise of this task was to showcase the learning of this year’s topics through a driving question, which would be answered through three guiding questions that aimed to uncover how the past had influenced the present.
These questions were used to corroborate information on the chosen topic, which enabled us to fully understand and answer the main, driving question.
Once all the primary research had been completed, students started designing their exhibit. This included presentations, posters, and in some cases, specific artifacts.
The presentation was the final step and was put on show last week through the exhibition.
On the day of the showcase, other classes, numerous parents, and staff came to view our presentations. They did so with fascination. Following the departure of many of the guests, the Year 8s were granted the opportunity to explore our peers' exhibitions. The experience of visiting various presentations made us realise the immense effort and dedication that the Year 8 History students have invested in their displays.
Overall, it was an enjoyable experience that allowed us to explore history and I hope it continues in future years.

DRIVE23:
Explainaganza
Last Friday, the Year 9 Language and Literacy students presented their learning for their DRIVE23 project. During the DRIVE23 project, students research a topic, concept or social practice related to Germany or Japan and argue for its implementation in Australia to improve society. Over the course of the term students were analysing sources, reflecting on what their learning has been, exchanging feedback with peers, and producing their final reasoning for their topic’s implementation into Australian society.
This ‘Explainaganza’ Exhibition, was the culmination of 8 weeks of research and students presented their learning in an engaging way to an audience of Year 7 and 8 students, staff and parents.
All students spoke with confidence, enthusiasm and above all, deep knowledge of their chosen topics. It was impressive to see students talking keenly about their research and enhancing audience interest with activities, props, models, and games. Plaza 2 and the Language classrooms were alive with discussion and enthusiasm for what the hard-working Year 9 Languages and Literacy students had to offer for DRIVE23!

Middle Years Music Concert
The Middle Years concert was held on Monday, 4 December in the Mall. The evening was a showcase of the musical talents of approximately 50 students from Year 7 through to Year 9. Six ensembles performed, including the Middle Years Band, Year 8 Band, Year 9 Band, String Ensemble, Junior Vocal Ensemble and the Big Band. There were also nine amazing soloists who bravely volunteered to perform to an audience of over 200 people.
Students rehearsed for this concert throughout the semester, and for the Year 7 and 8 ensemble members, this was their main public performance for the year.
Pieces ranged from Christmas inspired numbers such as ‘Baby it’s Cold Outside’ to ‘Jailhouse Rock’ and ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’.
It was a great concert and a fantastic way to finish the year.
A big thank you goes to Daniel Wooldridge and Chelsea Lee for directing several ensembles, as well as Cameron Barrett and Year 12 Music Leader Jemma Gardner who helped out with sound.

12 Days of Giving
As part of our Term 4 Christian Living program, students have been studying the 5 Love Languages. We have explored how people express and receive love in five different ways. Over the course of the term, we have spent time learning about quality time, words of affirmation, gifts, acts of service, and physical touch.
This program has provided our students with valuable insights into the various ways love can be expressed and received.
In the spirit of giving to our community, three of our Year 9 classes participated in Lutheran Care's 12 Days of Giving. Students in
Mrs Slater's class and Mr Bonini's class have spent the last 12 days collecting food items to support Lutheran Care's emergency relief teams, who are running low on many pantry items. Students paired up and collectively brought in items to cover all 12 days of giving.
We are incredibly grateful to our students and their families for their support of this campaign. By simply finding items in their pantry or by adding them to their weekly shopping list. Our classes created several boxes to bundle the items in to support families in need during the Christmas season.
As the term ends, we would like to extend our warmest wishes for a joyful Christmas to all students and their families.

On the Spot Service
This year, for the first time, Middle Years students had the opportunity to be involved in serving the wider community without even leaving the campus!
Ms Carter and her team put together a range of service activities to show the love of Jesus to our community.
Students had fun:
- packing cat food, almonds and sweeteners for Cos we Care
- packing Christmas hamper foods for Lutheran Community Care
- making Christmas cards to go with the hampers for Lutheran Community Care
- sewing hearts for the 1000 Hearts project
- writing thank you cards to our LSO staff
- writing Welcome to Endeavour messages for our 2024 Year 7s
- making back-to-school stationery packs for a variety of support agencies
- clearing the school veggie garden
- moving library books
It was exciting to see students and teachers serving all of these agencies and being able to spread the message of Christmas in this very real and tangible way.
Hopefully this is the start of an end of year tradition for many years to come!
