Principal's Report
Simone Wood, Principal
Hi Everyone,
This area has been completed. The seating arrived on a pallet and thanks to the hardwork of Chris Wiseman, it has been assembled in place and looking good. This area is actually waterproof and will come in handy for big events such as sports days.
In the background you can also see the soccer nets! Thank you to Mr Furphy for working out how to attach the extra frame and then the nets. The frame along the base allows the nets to stand up against the poles so that the mower can fit underneath. We can also stand them up to get them out of the way for other activities. Well done to our students for their magnificent fundraising ideas and also to our parents for supporting all our soccer net fundraising efforts.
It gives me great pleasure to be able to congratulate Tim Furphy on his provisional appointment as the next Principal of Newham Primary School, (the 29th of January 2024 is changeover day). Tim has worked tirelessly for Newham Primary School since his arrival in 2019 and has been instrumental in the implementation of curriculum and wellbeing initiatives. In a small school staff wear many hats, in a truly collaborative, cooperative environment. Tim and all our staff continue to more than capably demonstrate their skills in these areas.
I am absolutely certain that our school community will get behind Tim and our staff and I am sure they will be looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible volunteering and visiting in 2024.
Best wishes Madame Lee
As you already know Jacqueline Lee will be taking 12 months leave during 2024. She is literally irreplaceable and therefore during 2024, French will 'mark time' with Duo Lingo until her return. I'm sure you will join me in wishing Jacqueline all the best for 2024.
Classes and staff for 2024
Processes are currently underway for finalising the class structures for 2024. More information will follow as soon as we get final confirmation of last minute enrolments and staffing. Before the end of the year students will be able to meet their teacher and room mates for 2024.
End of Year reports
Staff are finalising assessment results and preparing this information for the final school report for 2023. This will be made available to families via uEducateUs during the last week of school.
Graduation
The time is drawing nearer to say a final farewell to our year 6's. Please look out for Graduation information updates via uEducateUs. It is exciting for the year 6's to have an extra special day at the movies and a restaurant, as well as our own farewell afternoon and evening.
Thankyou to students, staff and parents who made our Mango Drive the biggest ever!
A special shout-out to Shey Newitt who organised and sold a huge number of trays.
We raised $905 dollars profit- a spectacular effort!
