What a big week at TPS!

Mr Hogan

We are really starting to feel like Summer has arrived with the hot weather this week. Our teachers have been offering a mixture of indoor and outside play at recess and lunch times, so our students have a choice over how they are feeling, and where they would prefer to be.

Fete

We are really pleased to announce that the final amount raised for the Fete is approximately $8300. This is an amazing effort by everyone, and we thank the many helpers, community donations and volunteers who contributed to make this such a successful evening.

With these funds we have already purchased grandstand seating and bench seating for the undercover redevelopment, which are to be delivered next February.

Cottage By The Sea

Our campers had perfect weather for their Grade 5/6 camp to Cottage By The Sea.

The students have been fantastic representatives of our school, and taken part in some awesome activities, such as surfing, fishing and rock pooling.

Cottage By The Sea camp is always a highlight for our students and we are thrilled to keep this camp as part of our Camping program.

A big thank you to our staff who have accompanied the students for the week.

Graduation

Monday night is our Graduation ceremony. This is being held at the football club rooms starting at 6pm. The students and staff have been working hard to prepare for this evening, and it will no doubt be a fabulous night.

End of Year Organisation

Monday, 18th December is unofficially our final day for 2023. All formal classes and specialist areas will not be running on and after this day.

On the Monday we have a full day of fun planned, which includes:

Final Assembly - all 2024 leadership positions, farewells and the Xmas raffle will all take place.

Xmas Sing a long to follow assembly.

Class Parties

Parents and Friends free BBQ lunch

Zooper Doopers for all the students, which will be delivered by a special visitor.

What a great way to celebrate a fantastic year!

Statewide Transition Day

Next Tuesday, December 12th is Statewide transition day. All students will get to spend the morning session in their 2024 Classes, with their classroom teachers.

There will be no changes to classes after this day, as we need to get the students onto the department system in preparation for next year. I will be in a position to announce our 2024 Workforce Plan next Friday in the newsletter.

We also wish our Grade 6 students attending Echuca College and Ky P-12 College all the best, as they go and spend the day at their new school, with our Ky students participating in their Flying Start program for the week.

Communicating with Teachers

Please remember to use Compass, the school email address (Tongala.ps@education.vic.gov.au) or ring the school if you need to communicate with your child's teacher during the day. They will be able to respond at the earliest convenience. Also, teachers are available at their classrooms immediately after school, or prior to Morning Fitness at 8:45am.

As part of our Child Safe practices, all visitors to the school need to sign in and out through the front office. If collecting your child early, please wait at the office for a member of staff to go and collect them from their room.

2024 Return

All staff return to school Monday, January 29th.

All students will return on the following day, Tuesday, January 30th.

Preps will have a rest day on Wednesday, January 31st, and then each Wednesday in February, whilst our teachers conduct the English and Maths Interviews.

We will be communicating when the office is open closer to the date.

Library Books

Can we please have a look at home and start to return all Library Books, so Mrs Dullard can get them ready for next year.

School Council Thanks

Tuesday night was our final school council for 2023, and we said farewell to Melissa Williams, who has been an active member of School Council and Parents and Friends for 8 years. Melissa has always had the school, and students best interests in mind, when making decisions and organising fundraiser and we thank her for her ongoing contributions to her school.
