ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
We know that many of our children have special talents and wanted to acknowledge the talents of Sylvie Wilde (5/6J) and Jeremiah Urio (3/4C).
Sylvie received the highest mark in the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) grade 4 ballet exam this year with a distinction and the Class Award for the year. What a great achievement and well deserved. We are aware of the time and commitment that Sylvie would have had to put in to achieve such results.
Sylvie also performed in the South Yarra Ballet School’s production of “The Dancing Princesses”.
Jeremiah is a talented artist and his artwork has featured in our promotion of the 140 Birthday Fair and on our website. He has inspired many of our children to look carefully at our beautiful building and draw it themselves. We approached Jeremiah and asked if he would be interested in designing our very own Armadillo. He took on the challenge and we were thrilled with his creation.
WORKING BEE
Our school has the opportunity to make a financial contribution to realise the next stage of our Kitchen Garden and bring it to fruition early next year. Bunnings in Hawthorn is giving us the opportunity to raise much needed funds to get the next stage of the front kitchen garden landscaped and planted out. We still need volunteers to come on Sunday and help out at the sausage sizzle. We still need volunteers so if you have an hour to spare, on the link https://signup.com/go/zaeoTJX.
BULLETIN FOCUS: STEM
This term our Preps have been participating in the INSPIRE ROBOTICS program, Pet Builders.
This program gave our Preps the opportunity to team up and engineer their own character of choice.
Children were introduced to the concept of engineering, planning and connecting basic geometric shapes using screws with wing nuts.
They worked in teams to build and decorate their animated wonder (character).
The children animated their characters using servos plugged into pre-programmed boards and showcased their characters to their class and families.
Children in other year levels have also been engaging in STEM experiences designed by the classroom teachers. Please take the time to browse through this BULLETIN to read and see what your child has been learning and the skills they have been developing during STEM sessions.
We are in the process of collecting your input into our STEM program for 2025 and are interested in your opinion of including Inspire Robotics as a component of next year’s program. The survey closes this Sunday 1 December. Please complete a short survey via the link below: STEM at APS This link is now working.
Kind regards
