Advent

What Does Advent Mean?

Advent means "arrival" and signifies the start of an event or the arrival of a person. In Christian communities around the world, Advent refers to a four-week season of remembering and celebrating the arrival of Jesus on Earth. It’s a time to reflect on the unexpected nature of Jesus’ humble birth and join in the anticipation of when He will come again.

We reflect on the concepts of Hope, Peace, Love, and Joy—one for each week leading up to Christmas. Advent candles are lit and specific scriptures are read each day to reflect on the arrival of Jesus on Earth.

We have had a tremendous start to Advent with our Mini Vinnies donations. This action reflects the true meaning of Christmas, one of helping others and preparing the birth of Jesus, the Saviour of the world. Advent keeps us grounded before the busy, “silly” season ahead and hopefully, reminds us that, “Jesus is the reason for the Season.”

I wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas with your family and friends and to spread Peace, Love, Hope and Joy to everyone around you.
