Dear Parents and Friends,
Well, what an exciting end to our week we had on Friday. The Colour Run was a fantastic fundraising event. The children were very excited all day. We couldn't believe that it started to rain and the wind was howling when we were supposed to start!! We are very resilient lot at St Brigid's though, and nothing was going to stop us from enjoying this special event.
Thank you to the most amazing SBSquad and their band of merry helpers who put it all together. We raised an incredible $7174, which will go towards brightening up the library.
A great big thanks to our major fundraisers:
Our major fundraisers were very well rewarded with the honour of 'sliming', Mrs Sullivan, Mrs Marziano, Aodhan Olson and Amelia Prochillo! We think Tom and Sean may have enjoyed sliming the “toxic waste research scientists” otherwise known as Mrs Marziano, a bit too much.
As for Billie and Hayley O there were a lot of giggles as they slimed “Sadie, the cleaning Lady” or Mrs Sullivan as she is known when she doesn’t wear a shower cap to school!! I was very relieved Lerumo didn’t want to slime me - thank you Lerumo for looking after me! The Olson children also looked like they REALLY enjoyed sliming their dad. Thanks for being such good sports Aodhan and Amelia.
I know it is a busy time of the year, however, we still need to be wearing our correct uniform. I am seeing a lot of children wearing runners at the moment. Please make sure your children are wearing the correct shoes for the remainder of the year.
Please note unless medically required Crocs are not the go to shoes to wear if your school shoes or runners are not available. A note is required for any student out of uniform.
After 22 years at St Brigid's Ms Kavadias has decided to make a 'life change' and has informed me that she will not be returning to St Brigid's next year. She is looking forward to enjoying time with family, travelling and we have heard she may even take up Tai Chi!
I sincerely wish Angela all the very best in her upcoming adventures and know that she will stay in touch with her friends at St Brigid's. We will say a formal farewell to Ms Kavadias at our end of year assembly on Friday Tuesday 17 December.
Our children are such wonderful role models to each other. We had our Remembrance Day Liturgy service on Monday and all of our students were so incredibly respectful. Our Year 5 students were outstanding with how they read at the service.
Our 5/6 camp for 2025 is in Week 2 of Term 1 (Wednesday 5th February through to Friday 7th February). We are once again heading to Camp Coonawarra in Gippsland. We would like at least one parent from each of our 2025 Year 5/6 families to you to attend an information night so we can discuss the camp and hand out forms that will need to be filled out prior to the end of the year. Thank you in advance for attending the information night. Parents can RSVP via the Audri request sent earlier this week.
I hope you have got your costume ready to go - Italian Day is just around the corner. In fact, it is next week on Thursday. We are looking forward to a day of Carnivale fun along with a pizza and gelato!
A dear friend of mine runs an annual fundraiser to raise money for Child Brain Cancer Research. Daniela has been hosting this event for 13 years. A number of ex-parents of St Brigid’s have also been amazing supporters of this event. They are conducting this fundraiser at our school this year, so if you have a spare half an hour please feel free to come in and have a look at the amazing auction pieces they have to offer.
As we are decluttering the library we do have some items for sale. We have 33 child computer swivel chairs for $20.00 each.
Tables - Free to a good home
Please contact Tracey in the office if you are interested in any of the tables or chairs.
We are currently finalising Semester 2 Student Reports. If you have changed your email address since June can you please email acochrane@sbmord.catholic.edu.au with your updated details with your child's name and class.
On Thursday November 21, St Brigid’s are hosting a Cyber Safety evening with the team from Inform and Empower Marty and Carly McGauran. Marty is a primary school teacher of 15 years and Carly is a Pschologist and mother of 3. They are looking forward to presenting ‘Raising Kids in a Digital World’ to the St Brigid’s school community. The evening is relevant for all age groups, covering topics ranging from managing screen time to navigating social media. We thank Bendigo Bank for sponsoring this night making it free for St Brigid’s parents and carers.
We really encourage families to attend. Please use this link to register.
