Year Two - Spotlight on Learning
Dear Families,
We have had a great week launching our Taking Action Advent Project with St Vinnies. We will be earning tokens for acts of kindness both within the classroom and at home. When we reach 50 tokens for each class we will earn some goods to place into the Christmas Hampers ready to donate to those in need at Christmas Time. The more tokens we earn the more goods we will receive. Please bring your signed Acts of Kindness forms (sent via Seesaw) back by next Friday, 29th November.
Next week we are learning...
Religious Education: We will be learning about Advent and working on our Taking Action Project. Any families who wish to make additional donations of non-perishable items for our hampers may donate them to the community too. We will also be practicing our Christmas Carol ready for the Carols Event on Tuesday 3rd December. Here is the song should your children wish to practice at home:
Mathematics: We are learning about location. We will be locating positions in two-dimensional representations of a familiar space and move positions by following directions and pathways.
English: We will be looking at using past and present tense verbs in our sentences. Our spelling focus is reading and spelling words with the /j/ sound using gy, ge and /s/ sound using ci, cy, ce.

Auslan: This week we are learning that listening to stories as a baby helped us to learn to talk, watching signed stories will help us to learn to sign. We learn some new signs about animals with wings and use these signs to help us to understand two signed stories and a signed song.
Social/Emotional Learning & RRRR: We are focusing on cooperative games and help seeking skills.

Reminders
With the weather being unpredictable at the moment it is a great time to remember to ensure all students clothing is labelled. We are gathering quite a collection of jumpers and hats that students have taken off and not placed correctly into their bags.
We are also seeing lots of students coming to school without their drink bottles. This causes a disruption to the class when students need to leave the learning space to get a drink at the taps outside. We allow students in Year 2 to keep their drink bottle on their table and use as needed within the classroom.
