Positive Behaviours for Learning

At SFS, our PBL (Positive behaviours for learning) school wide expectations are:

Respect,

Responsibility and

Kindness

As we had a very short week this week with our school closure and Melbourne cup day, we did not have our regular weekly PBL lesson which happens at SFS on a Monday.

Teachers were asked to speak with the children during the week about how they can use good manners during the Twilight market and Art show.

One of our school wide expected behaviours is RESPECT: Use good manners. The students discussed with the teachers what this might look like at the Twilight market and Art show like saying please and thank you were buying something from a market stall or smiling and greeting someone we know when we see them.

Here are some of our lucky raffle winners from last week who have been demonstrating our schoolwide expected behaviours.

Twilight Market

A huge thank you to all the students, staff, stallholders, parents, siblings and members of the SFS school community who participated in our annual Twilight market. It is always a wonderful uplifting event which brings the school community together. It was heart warming to see so many SFS students and their families enjoying themselves and spending time together. A huge thank you to you all!

World Kindness Day

Next Wednesday 13th November is World Kindness day

What is World Kindness Day?

World Kindness Day is a global day that promotes the importance of being kind to each other, to yourself, and to the world.

If every Australian performed an act of kindness on World Kindness Day, we would have 25 million acts of kindness in a single day.

The possibilities are endless – together let’s make Australia kinder. It also aligns with one of our schoolwide values of Kindness. On our school expectation matrix under kindness, we expect the following behaviours: Encourage and support others, Include others, Be thoughtful of others, Play fairly and be a good sport and use appropriate language.

The following tips of ways to make Kindness the norm is taken from the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation. For more information visit https://www.randomactsofkindness.org/world-kindness-day

The SRC are going to do some work over the rest of term 4 to try and spread some kindness at SFS, stay tuned to find out how.
