Year 1:

 Melbourne Museum Excursion

Year 1 Excursion - Melbourne Museum

On November 6th, our Year 1 classes had a fantastic day at the Melbourne Museum, where they explored the fascinating history of Melbourne and learned about Indigenous culture.

Exploring History

The students were excited to step into the museum and discover how families lived in the past. They looked at different types of houses and how people used to spend their days compared to their own lives today. The hands-on exhibits, filled with photographs and artefacts, allowed them to see what homes looked like long ago. Many students were surprised to learn about the old-fashioned tools and toys that children played with before modern technology!

Learning About Indigenous Culture

Another highlight of the day was exploring the rich traditions of Indigenous Australians. The students listened to stories that celebrated the connection between Indigenous people and the land. They were captivated by the art and music.

By comparing their own family traditions with those of Indigenous cultures, students began to appreciate the diversity of backgrounds within our community. They shared stories about their own families, helping everyone to learn from each other.

A big thank you to our teachers and parent volunteers who made this trip possible!
