Friday 22nd November
Dear Families,
As we approach the end of another busy fortnight at Mitcham Primary School, I’m excited to share some wonderful updates and reminders with you.
We are pleased to let you know about the $400 School Savings Bonus provided by the Department of Education. This initiative aims to support families with school-related costs for 2025. There is no need to apply—eligible families will receive an email in November with instructions on accessing the funds through an online system.
The bonus can be allocated towards a range of expenses, including:
Uniform purchases can be made through Spartan, our approved supplier and any unused funds for uniforms will transfer to your child’s school account for future use.
At the end of 2025 unspent funds will also roll over into your child’s school account for use in future years, offering continued flexibility.
We hope this initiative provides meaningful support to our families and helps ensure all students have access to the wonderful opportunities we offer.
It has been an incredible journey watching our new playgrounds and reflection garden come to life. The Pirate Ship sandpit and the Junior P-2 playground are now complete, and we are thrilled to announce their official opening on Monday.
Our reflection garden is a beautiful and serene space, made even more special by the plants chosen and planted in memory of Kavita Parmar. This area serves as a quiet retreat for our students, and it honours her memory in a way that will continue to enrich our school community for years to come.
Thank You, Aysha and Team, for an Incredible Disco!
A huge thank you to Aysha and her trusty band of volunteers for the amazing organization of last Friday’s disco. The event was a spectacular success, with students and teachers dancing the time away and creating fun filled memories. This much-loved tradition brings so much joy to our school community, and it wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and hard work of our parents. Thank you for helping to keep this cherished tradition alive and making it such a highlight of the school year! 🎶💃🕺
Celebrating Mitcham Primary’s Athletic Achievements!
Last weekend, three of our talented Mitcham Primary School students—Alexander, Grace, and Jasmine—showcased their exceptional athletic skills at the Regional Relay Carnival, held at the Box Hill Athletics track. Their determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship were on full display, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts!
Alexander had an incredible day, competing in four relay events. His standout performance was part of a team that shattered the regional record, improving it by an impressive seven seconds! In an extraordinary finish, the team secured second place overall, missing out on first place by just 52 milliseconds. What a thrilling achievement!
Grace also competed in four events, demonstrating her versatility and endurance, while Jasmine participated in two events with great enthusiasm. Although they did not officially place, both athletes had an amazing time and represented their athletic club with pride. Their efforts and commitment are a source of inspiration, and both their families and our school community are incredibly proud of them.
We congratulate Alexander, Grace, and Jasmine for their outstanding achievements and for embodying the spirit of teamwork and resilience.
Go, Mitcham Primary!
Thursday afternoon’s Bake Sale Fundraiser was an incredible success, with a crowd of enthusiastic supporters queuing up to purchase delicious treats. Dennis, one of our Kids Hope mentors, even likened the scene to the bustling lines of the Boxing Day sales! The funds raised will go directly toward the commissioning of a special art piece celebrating Australia’s First Nations people.
A huge thank you to Judith S. and the Marrung team of teachers and students for their tireless efforts in organising this event. We are also deeply grateful to all the families who generously contributed baked goods and supported this initiative.
Watch this space for updates as planning and installation for the artwork progresses. Your support is helping to create something truly meaningful for our school community. Thank you, Mitcham Primary! 🖤💛❤️
Over the past three weeks, our students have enjoyed a wonderful swimming program, filled with fun and valuable learning experiences. It has been fantastic to see the children building their water confidence, developing skills, and enjoying themselves. Thank you to all families for your support in making this program such a success.
As we finalise our plans for the 2025 school year, we kindly ask families who know they will not be attending Mitcham Primary School next year to let us know as soon as possible. Accurate numbers are crucial for ensuring the best possible class structures and allocations for our students.
Thank you for your continued support as we strive to provide a rich and inclusive educational experience for all children at Mitcham Primary School.
Warmly,
Erin
