WACoA Carnival
What a wonderful weekend at the carnival. The WACoA carnival had a great atmosphere with all competitors participating with a great attitude, making it fantastic to be a part of.
All the attending Colleges reported having a great time and really enjoying the many and varied sports as there was literally something for everyone.
I must firstly thank Jennie Stringer for the brilliant job she does of organising and planning the entire weekend. The planning has already begun for 2025.
I must also thank all the kitchen staff who once again fed nearly 200 people for the entire carnival from Friday evening through until Saturday evening when a magnificent sit-down meal was had here onsite. They did a wonderful job and all schools were once again extremely grateful.
The other staff who help make it such a great weekend are all the volunteers who assist with coaching, umpiring, photography, transportation, setting and packing things up. Without all these people it would not be anything like what we end up with. It was a pleasure to be associated with such a fantastic, inclusive couple of days of enthusiastic competitive fun.
Town Sports
Monday night saw the culmination of the town basketball competition. We had several students involved with mixed success as they were in apposing teams, however the games were all very close and a real spectacle from what I hear. We also had several students win awards at the windup. Well done to all students who participated over the entire competition.
Guest Speaker
Wednesday evening, we were lucky enough to enjoy the company of Mr Brad Ness who came to speak to students about his journey as a five time Paralympian and Captain of the men’s wheelchair basketball team and now Coach of the Australian Wheelchair Basketball Team. It was very inspiring to hear directly from Brad about his experience.
