St Peter’s School- an empowered faith community to enrich the world
To provide a vibrant learning culture for our community of learners to thrive, guided by faith and compassion.
Dear Parents,
Thank you for an amazing first term! What a busy term it has been: 3-6 swimming, NAPLAN, Sacrament of Reconciliation, Holy Week liturgies, incursions , tabloid sports event - the list could continue!
Thank you to everyone in our community for your commitment and support.
Over the last couple of weeks students in years 3 and 5 completed their NAPLAN testing. This provides a snapshot of achievement on the day of the test and is used by the school to measure the impact of our teaching and to reflect on improvements that could be made. We look forward to receiving results later in the year.
What an amazing reflective journey we have been taken on this week as our students presented the story of Holy Week through a series of liturgies. Thank you to the families who were able to attend these presentations.
What a nice way to finish the term, with some rivalry between our Year 6 students and staff. Not sure who the winning teams were, but a lot of fun was had by all!!
As advised by email last week, I will be taking Long Service Leave for Term 2. I am looking forward to celebrating the marriage of my eldest daughter in April, and then I will be heading overseas for a few weeks before returning refreshed and raring to go for Term 3!
Staffing changes that are necessary during my leave are:
Belinda Mihalicek: Acting Principal
Iris Devisser: Acting Deputy Principal
Monica Bowen: Full-time in 5/6B
Angelene Longano: Tuesday in 5 /6C when Ms Chamberlain fulfills her Literacy leader duties.
I know you will show Belinda your full support in her role as Acting Principal and support her the way I have always felt supported during my time here.
I look forward to sharing highlights of my leave on my return.
Please note that we have changed our Term 3 closure day to Monday 26 August. As a school we have an exciting opportunity to participate in Berry St training.
The Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) equips both mainstream and specialist schools with practical, classroom-based strategies to increase the engagement of all students, including those with complex, unmet learning needs.
Our education model enables schools to support students’ self-regulation, relationships and wellbeing to increase student engagement and significantly improve academic achievement. (https://www.berrystreet.org.au/learning-and-resources/berry-street-education-model )
This model complements the work we are doing in becoming a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school. Camp Australia will be available for those families who require this service.
We invite you to register for this FREE webinar, sponsored by Camp Australia and held on May 14, 2024 7:00PM AEST.

I wish everyone a safe and happy Easter and holiday break.
