Guilford Young College (GYC) Open Day

GYC are holding an Open Day on their Hobart campus on Saturday 6 April from 9.00am til 2.00pm.

Take a tour with their students, check out the amazing facilities, meet some of their passionate teachers and have your questions answered.

Family Information Evening - Tuesday 4 June : 5.30pm - 7.00pm

Don Bosco Theatre, Glenorchy Campus.

Presentation, information session, expo and opportunity for parents to speak with staff members and explore the wide range of subject offerings.

 

Our Family Information Evening will provide prospective families with further details about Guilford Young College including facilities, daily timetable, cocurricular opportunities, enrolment processes, course selection and information on senior secondary education such as the Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE) and Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR). 

 

Mount Carmel College Year 10 students are invited to attend GYC during College hours to assist with initial course (subject) counselling. Every Year 10 student will attend this excursion on Friday 21 June. Further details will be announced early Term 2.

 

2025 Enrolment Applications Due

Friday 21 June : 4.30pm at Hobart and Glenorchy campuses.

Subject selections are due in July.

 

In preparation for College enrolment and subject selection, each Year 10 Pathways class will be guided through effective processes to assist their decision making. These lessons will begin later this term.

Options post school include:

  1. Further education and training - VET Courses, Apprenticeships and Traineeships, Higher education, or short study and training.
  2. Gap year - working, volunteering, internship, travelling and working, Defence Force (paid Gap year program)
  3. Jumping into the world of work.

Each fortnight, there will be a Pathways page in The View newsletter to help parents and carers support their daughter’s future.


Casual Job Opportunity

Little Amsterdam Café on Sandy Bay Road, Battery Point (opposite the Mount Carmel Uniform Shop) is looking for a Year 9 or 10 student who may interested in obtaining a casual job on a Saturday.

The applicant will need to be reliable, show initiative and be able to closely follow instructions. This role will provide you with a great opportunity to develop hospitality skills.
