Primary Swimming Carnival
Well done to the students that participated in the Swimming Carnival at the Clarence Aquatic Centre on Wednesday 21 February. Thank you also to the parents that assisted on the day. The final result saw Lourdes the winners with 517 points, followed by Loreto with 408 points and Carmel with 331 points.
There were some wonderful individual performances. Congratulations to the following 50m event winners:

From the results of the Swimming Carnival, a team has now been selected to represent Mount Carmel at the Junior Southern Sports Association of Tasmanian Independent Schools (JSSATIS) on Monday 25 March and the Southern Tasmania Catholic Primary School Sports Association (STCPSSA) Primary Swimming Carnival on Friday 5 April. SSATIS Athletics Carnival
It was a terrific team effort from Mount Carmel at the SSATIS Athletics Carnival on Tuesday. The team won 3rd place in the Girls Junior Shield of 13 schools. This is a great effort for the team and it shows that their hard work and commitment to early morning training pays off. There were exceptional individual performances, and competitors in every event doing their best. Many students stepped up in events they weren’t expecting to. Congratulations to all team members and their wonderful coaches.
The team now turns its attention to the SATIS (State) Carnival on Friday 22 March in Hobart.

Secondary Volleyball
The Secondary Volleyball roster has been a huge success this term, with 5 teams representing Mount Carmel in the Monday afternoon roster.
The Year 7/8 roster includes 15 teams, with the Year 8 team currently sitting in 3rd position with 5 wins from 6 matches. The Year 7s are still learning the ropes and are looking forward to a session at lunch this week with a Volleyball Tas Coach.
The two year 10 teams played each other last Monday in a highly competitive match. The Gold team came out victorious, to remain undefeated in the 9/10 roster, inflicting the Navy team’s first defeat of the season. It was all smiles after the match, with both teams enjoying a laugh.
Club Hockey
The OHA Hockey Club is seeking junior players for the upcoming season. Beginners welcome. Training for all teams is held on Tuesdays from 5:00pm - 6:30pm. Games commence after Easter with U12 and U14s on Friday evenings and U16 and U18s on Monday evening, all training and games are at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre, New Town.
