A Word from the Principal

Megan Richardson

May our community be blessed with unity, understanding, and compassion.

May we support and uplift one another,

celebrating our diversity and nurturing our connections.

May kindness and generosity flow freely,

creating a tapestry of warmth and harmony

for all who call this community home.

Amen

Last week I was fortunate enough to attend a Statewide Principal’s meeting for two days.  Each morning, both primary and secondary students from Mount Carmel College lead a group of approximately sixty leaders in prayer. This time of reverence, faith and joyful singing was truly a special way to share our sense of faith and community. In particular, as representatives from our community including students, staff and parents reminded me of the profound significance of community. It is the heartbeat of our College, founded upon inclusivity, connection and an unwavering care for one another.

Here, every individual is celebrated for their unique gifts, talents, and perspectives. Our differences are not merely tolerated but cherished, weaving a rich tapestry of experiences and backgrounds that enriches our collective journey. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or during spiritual gatherings, we embrace the beauty of diversity and recognize that it is the cornerstone of our strength. But community extends beyond mere coexistence; it thrives on genuine connections forged through shared experiences and mutual respect. In the laughter that echoes through our hallways, the spirited discussions in our classrooms, and the quiet moments of reflection during prayer, bonds are formed that transcend the confines of our campus. These connections remind us that we are never truly alone, that we are part of something greater than ourselves—a supportive network of sisters united in purpose and passion.

At the heart of our community lies a profound sense of care for others, a commitment to uplift and support one another in times of joy and adversity alike. Whether through acts of kindness or lending a listening ear, we embody the teachings of compassion and empathy instilled in us by our faith. In doing so, we cultivate an environment where every member feels valued, understood, and empowered to thrive. As we continue to navigate the joys and challenges of college life, let us never lose sight of the precious gift that is our community. Let us nurture it with intention, kindness, and gratitude, knowing that it is the foundation upon which we build lasting friendships, pursue academic excellence, and grow in faith.

Easter Raffle

A reminder to our families to support our Easter Raffle as we raise money to upgrade our Undercroft area and support Project Compassion.  We are asking each family to donate a chocolate egg or rabbit as well as sell their page of $1 tickets.  There are giant Easter hampers to be won and a prize for the most tickets sold. Tickets are on sale until Monday 25 March and the winners drawn on Tuesday 26 March. Tickets can be purchased via the Qkr app.

Open Afternoon

Last Thursday afternoon we held our Open Afternoon with over forty new families meeting staff, exploring our grounds and touring with students from Years 7 to 10.  It was a wonderful experience to meet these families and I would especially like to thank our tour guides who were recognised by the new families as outstanding ambassadors for our College.
