Flipping Through History With Passover Pancakes

Last week, the Year 6 students came together for an unforgettable event leading up to Easter - a Pancake Passover celebration. We enjoyed delicious pancakes and delved deep into the historical and spiritual significance of the Exodus story.

The Exodus, the miraculous escape of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, stands as a powerful testament to God's love and power, a reminder that He is always with us, guiding and delivering us. God provided protection for his people through the blood of a lamb. Many years later, He provided Jesus, the ultimate sacrifice, given once and for all, to save his people.

The highlight of our gathering was the creative and engaging way we chose to recount the Exodus story - through pancakes. Yes, you read that right! Our pancakes served as canvases upon which we 'painted' the ten plagues, a pivotal part of the Exodus narrative. Each pancake depicted a different plague, allowing us to literally 'digest' the story. Imagine raspberries representing boils, chocolate sprinkles representing gnats and a plague of dying livestock (cow pus) represented by maple syrup. The event sparked many interesting conversations with students about the significance of these events and their enduring impact.

It was a poignant reminder that, just as God worked wonders for the Israelites, He continues to work in our lives today.
