Principal's Message:

Dear Parents, Carers, Families and Friends of St Mel’s Primary School,

Welcome back to the new school term!

Our children have returned quickly to school routines and engagement with the learning program within Pastoral Groups.

Hearing the children catching up with school friends and class mates on the first few days of the week provided a glimpse into some well spent school holidays travelling, participating in a myriad of activities or enjoying a relaxing break locally.

Pastoral Group teachers have spent time this week refocussing our learners on our three School Wide Expectations and behaviour support mantras to relay the foundation for the term of learning ahead. We will continue to build on our expectations around learning and behaviour in the days, weeks and term ahead.

He Is Risen!

Our Year 1/2 Learning Community presented a beautiful reflection on the Resurrection on Wednesday afternoon in the hall. Through words, song and images of their creative depictions of the Resurrection, the children tuned us back in with the events of Easter.

In many ways Holy Week seems so long ago, however, the children's creative depictions of the empty tomb and appearances of Jesus to his friends helped us reflect on Christ alive in our world through us and our actions as people of God.

Welcoming Enrolments for 2024 & 2025:

Pleasingly we have returned to the new school year with interest in enrolling for the remainder of the 2024 school year along with interest from prospective families for 2025.

I look forward to meeting with these parents, carers and children in the weeks ahead as they visit our lovely school environment and learn more about what we offer our learners.

Current parents / carers with students coming into Foundation in 2025 are invited to let Karen and Maria know now in support of our enrolment lists.

Exisiting parents / carers are encouraged to urge family members and/or friends to contact the school office if they have children to commence Foundation next year.

Spread the word - we are OPEN for enrolments.

Please keep our children participating in the parish Sacramental program in your thoughts and prayers at this time. Sessions re-commence this week, with a Cluster Group session held in our school last night.

Attendance at School Matters!

High rates of attendance at school is very closely linked to enhanced academic achievement and growth, better work habits and more positive relationships with others.

In situations where students have attended less than 90% of the time, set an aim to increase the attendance rate for the new school term.

Kind regards,
