Year 5/6 - Senior Unit

In the past fortnight grade 5/6 have had many exciting things take place!

COBAW SPORTS

Congratulations to our softball, cricket and volleyball teams that competed in the Romsey based Cobaw sports competition. A HUGE thankyou to Michelle Toose, Louise Hogbin, Gen Kelly, for their support on the day! In particular mention, the mixed volleyball team made some ground-breaking development in their spiking, serving and returns through Michelle’s expertise and coaching over the duration of the day, meanwhile the girl’s team had a great day coming in close at the end for 3rd place. The Tee ballers braved the Romsey sun and took home 2nd place also!

LEADERSHIP

Our Year 6 students who were elected as leaders for 2024 took centre stage at last weeks assembly to receive their long anticipated… Badges! We look forward to the fantastic efforts from this team this year.

LITERACY

The students in 5/6 have focused on authors voice, purpose, tone, and overall story structure when writing narratives. The students have also moved into studying the method behind convincing an audience with persuasive text, and how they can make their writing Richer, Stronger, Better! Some year 5/6s had the chance to collaboratively brainstorm during writing sessions, practicing teamwork, speaking and listening skills.

NUMERACY

Students have become expert data analysts over the last couple of weeks, learning how to accumulate both numerical and categorical data, as well as display and analyse this data in appropriate graphs.

INQUIRY

With a broad range of prior knowledge, students have had the opportunity to work together and refine their researching skills as they investigate life for people who migrated to Australia through different periods of history, including the Gold Rush era and the Convict Era.
