Integration Aides

Ever wondered – “Who are the Integration Aides and what do they actually do?”

Woodend Primary has five aides and we work under the direct guidance and supervision of the teachers. We work across the school providing support for students, to help them both academically and socially. You will see us-

  • Giving general support to the teachers in the classroom, which frees them up to provide individual children with additional assistance.
  • Working with small groups of students on a specific skill eg. fine motor development, speech, phonics and numeracy. This is always done under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
  • Running Play Club at lunch time (in the playground) for those students who just need a little extra support during this time.
  • Roaming the yards at recess and lunch time to provide social support for specific children that find social situations challenging.
  • Attending school camps and excursions to support both the teachers and specific children who might need a little extra help.
  • Administering First Aid, which we do every lunch and recess time.

Hopefully this has provided an insight into what our team does.
