Theatre Ash Semester 2 Auditions

A man stands accused of stealing cats. Many cats. There is video evidence. There are witness statements. The man even admitted it. So why are the jurors taking so long to agree on a verdict? He’s guilty!

Or is he…

Theatre Ash is presenting the comedy, 12 Incompetent Jurors for their Semester 2 program. Written in imitation of the famous play, Twelve Angry Men, the play offers opportunities for students to perform both on stage and off stage. There are 16 stage roles to choose: the 12 jurors, the judge, the criminal and two witnesses. The judge, criminal and witnesses are small roles, the 12 jurors are main roles. There are also positions for boys interested in backstage crew. For more information or to register your interest, email theatreash@marash.qld.edu.au with your name, year level and what role you are interested in.

Auditions will take place in June: Friday 7, Monday 10, Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 at First Break in the Experimental Theatre. No preparation is necessary, and no solo performances are required. Auditions are in a casual, group setting.

Semester 1 Concert Celebration

Congratulations to all the boys who performed in the Semester 1 Concert Celebration last week. Once again, there was a consistent level of high performance across all instrumental and vocal ensembles. Of note was the performance by Year 12 Liam Bourke who performed the solo for Gabriel’s Oboe with Wind Orchestra 1. Liam will soon depart for Scotland to participate in the National Youth Wind Ensemble of Scotland. This program is a partnership between the Open Conservatorium, Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, UK giving students an opportunity to work with their Scottish and International peers. We wish Liam all the best in this amazing opportunity.

Studio Concerts

Last week over 30 boys participated in our end of semester studio concerts. These intimate concerts give our piano, guitar, brass, woodwind, string, percussion, and vocal students an opportunity to share their solo recital skills in a relaxed and supportive environment. It was very pleasing to see so many boys take up the opportunity with each performance, being well received by the College wider community.
