Personal and Social Capability
CURRICULUM FOCUS
We are learning about positive and negative thoughts and how that affects us.
VOCABULARY
Positive and negative thinking: If a positive thinker with a growth mindset receives a challenge, they may view it as an opportunity to try something new and grow their skills. If a negative thinker with a fixed mindset has the same challenge, they tend to shy away from difficulties that stop them from developing.
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Have your child brainstorm some negative thoughts they may be having and then ask your child to think about what positives they can see from the situation and how they can think more positively. The more positives they find the more positive they will think, as the negative thoughts will be reduced, and the situation will appear more balanced.
