Reading
CURRICULUM FOCUS
We are learning to analyse the language features of a narrative text.
VOCABULARY
Descriptive language - a technique used in speaking and writing that involves a detailed description of a place or person
Sensory language - words that link readers to the five senses: touch, sight, sound, smell, and taste
Justify - show or prove to be right or reasonable
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Ask your child to read their independent reading books in their blue satchels and identify the different narrative structural elements within their text. Is there a title, sizzling start, backfill, problem (pebble, rock, boulder), resolution and a character wrap up? If you cannot identify some of the structural elements, identify what you could add based on what you have read.
