National Simultaneous Storytime - 22nd May 2024

This week students at Trinity took part in the National Simultaneous Storytime. This is an annual national event, where students from many schools across Australia listen to the same story at the same time. The purpose of this event is to encourage young children to read and enjoy books as well as teach them the value of literacy. This year's featured story was the CBCA shortlisted book:

Bowerbird Blues by Aura Parker,

Also nominated for CBCA 2024 Picture Book of the Year.

Oh, how I love the sky….

And moving through

The marvellous BLUE

Here are a few pictures of the children participating in the simultaneous storytime....

And here are some pictures from our Prep classes and their engaging response to the story, making mandalas with precious objects....

Writing Club- Melbourne Writer's Festival

Students from Trinity attended the Melbourne Writers Fesival a few weeks ago. A few students from Writing Club have written about their experience.....

Hi my name is Amara and I am in 5/6 BOC. Today I am going to share my favourite moments with you from the Melbourne Writers Festival. One of the speakers (Anna Zobel) told a story about some lighthouse workers who disappeared and were never found. It sent literal shivers down my spine!

After some people spoke, we went and bought some books and got them signed. I bought one from the lighthouse person. I had a lot of fun and next time I will bring a notebook so I can give you more information.

I had a lot of fun at the Writers Festival. We met lots of different authors and got to buy their books. Some of the books I liked were Frog Squad, Wylah and some ended up in our school library.

The Writers Festival 2024 was amazing! The experience I had there was very enjoyable. But first, what is the Melbourne Writers Festival? The Melbourne Writers Festival is held in the State Library of Victoria. It is a wonderful opportunity for hundreds of primary school students in Melbourne to come and listen to some authors talk about their books and about themselves. We were lucky enough to go to the Writers festival and listen to the author’s fantastic stories. The authors there were Kate and Joel Temple who mainly showcased their book The Frog Squad, Anna Zobel who wrote THIS CAMP IS DOOMED, Jordan Gould and Richard Prichard who made the Wylah series. The Melbourne Writers Festival has inspired and encouraged me to write more and embrace my writing. This was a very fun experience where I had the opportunity to learn new things.

These are the inspiring authors that the students had the opportunity to listen to and learn from...

Here are some of the books that we purchased from the Writers Festival that can now be borrowed from our school library...

Staying in touch...

If at any time you would like to chat about the learning at Trinity, or you have any questions or concerns about your child's learning, please do not hesitate to see your child's teacher, or myself.
