From The Team

Can you believe it’s almost June? We’re wrapping up Week 6 of the term and only have five more weeks until the school holidays. Time flies when you're having fun!

The last two weeks have been packed with excitement, featuring Education Week and District Cross Country. A HUGE thank you to all our grandparents and special friends who joined us for the Education Week Open Morning. It was heartwarming to see so many special guests spending the morning in the 5/6 space, followed by a delightful BYO picnic. This event was a smashing success and a cherished highlight for our students!

We also extend our gratitude to the families who attended our Open Night. This year’s theme, ‘Spotlight on STEM,’ allowed students and parents to dive into thrilling STEM activities like robotics, maths games, tower building, and science experiments.

Thank you for your incredible support of our school and your children during Education Week. Your involvement truly makes a difference.

Year 7 2025 Applications

A big thank you to all our Year 6 families for submitting their child’s Year 7 applications for 2025. All applications have been forwarded to the student’s first preference schools. Families will be notified of the application outcomes on Wednesday 17th July.

We hope you all have a wonderful fortnight!

What We Are Learning

Reminders

Homework

The Year 5/6 cohort continues our fortnightly homework tasks for Weeks 7 and 8! Remember to read for 20 minutes, 5 nights every week, and fill in your diaries to be checked every Friday. If you can’t read one night, make sure you do yourself a favour and catch up your reading the next night!

Winter Sport

The Year 5/6 cohort will be participating in Winter Sports soon so make sure, if you want to practise, you do so and check what team you are in!

Maths in 5/6

Last week, our 5/6 students were learning about Time. Miss Whittington’s PONT group focused on measuring, calculating and comparing elapsed time, while developing their skills in interpreting and using timetables. As part of this unit, students planned a trip that included various modes of transport and created a detailed timetable of daily activities whilst adhering to specific constraints. It was a great way to make learning both practical and fun!

Persuasive Writing In 5/6

This term, our 5/6 students have been exploring the art of persuasive writing. They've delved into using the PEEL (Point, Evidence, Explain, Link) structure to craft engaging and convincing argument paragraphs. Check out some of the fantastic writing pieces created by our talented students:

District Cross Country

This year, on Friday the 17th of May, students participated in the District Cross Country from 10.00am to 1.00pm. Over 16 schools went, and 3 people from our school had a successful race: Leila W., Summer E. and Bodhi H., who all got top 20 in their races and will get to move onto Division Cross Country to represent our school. In the end, everyone was very tired and more than half of us didn’t make it in, but we all had fun and, at the end of it all, luckily we got onto the bus before it started raining.

Grandparents and Special Friends Open Morning

Open Night

Wednesday 15th May was a bustling day with Grandparents and Special Friends Open Morning and Open Night. Following a successful morning, the 5/6 area was filled with excitement as students and families engaged in STEM activities focused on engineering. The goal was to build the tallest tower using Lego, Jenga blocks, cards and cups. Friends collaborated and students competed against parents in this fun challenge. It was wonderful to see everyone participate. We might even have a few future engineers among us!
