Social Outreach:

Term 1 saw our school community support both Jesuit Social Services and Caritas - Project Compassion.  We were able to fill the shelves for the Ignite Food Store in Emerton which supported families struggling in the local community.  We were able to support Caritas- Project Compassion through our school disco and raise funds to support their work within Australia and overseas.

In Term 2 we will be supporting St Vincent de Paul.  We will continue to support Vinnie’s with our sandwich-making and Teachers Vinnie’s Van.  In addition, Einstein House will be leading an opportunity to support St Vincent de Paul through the Winter Sleepout.  The major event will be  Crazy Hat Day on Friday June 7.

On Crazy Hat Day students in K-4 will have Pyjama Day, students in 5-12 will be able to wear suitable mufti along with their crazy hats.  We will also be offering a Social Justice evening for students in years 5-8, and for our SOE students we will be having a Winter Sleepout tortoise awareness around the good works of St Vincent de Paul..  To support these Social Justice initiatives we will be asking families to donate money via the QKR App.

The dates for each of these initiatives will be shared shortly, please keep an eye out for further details.

Liturgy:

On Friday the 10th of May, all Mother and Mother figures joined us in the College’s newest building, the Performance Hall to celebrate our very unique Mother's Day Liturgy. From our youngest kindergarteners to Year 8, we gathered to honour and pay respect to the guiding figures in our lives—our Mums.

During the liturgy, Deacon Tony reminded us of the choice that God made by letting His Son be one of us by being born of a human mother.  He also emphasised the special role that all mothers play in nurturing and guiding their children. The liturgy was brimming with joy and active participation from all students and parents, as we came together to offer prayers and gratitude for the love and sacrifice of our mothers.

It was a beautiful occasion where the spirit of motherhood was celebrated, cherished, and acknowledged as a gift from above.
