Hospitality News

Last term saw the reopening of the Just Brew It Cafe inside the new McAuley Technical and Applied Studies Centre. Assisting students with their curriculum requirements for VET Hospitality, Mr Gatt operates the cafe with a rotating roster of staff and students from year 11 and 12.

The cafe provides a range of food and beverage options and allows VET Hospitality students to practice their skills, allowing them to successfully complete their Certificate II in Hospitality. The specific units that align to the students classroom focus on serving food and beverage, preparing espresso coffee and serving simple dishes and non alcoholic beverages. The students are also able to use their efforts in the cafe as credit for work placements, which allows them to be at school more often and ensures they don't miss out on important content delivered in their other subjects.

Term 2 sees the cafe continuing to enrich our Colleges curricular and vocational studies. Just Brew It hopes to continue to support the extra curricular activities at the college as they did in term 1 with St. Patrick's Day, Harmony Day, Valentines Day and other catering activities. The JBI team looks forward to continuing to serve all the eager students looking for their Iced Chocolate, Milkshake or Just Barbie fix as well as providing a never ending supply of Choc Chunk Cookies that are a must try and the cafes most popular sale item. The cafe will also look to employ some more volunteers this term, so if your child is interested in hospitality, but not quite old enough to be studying it at school, please have them contact Mr Gatt via email or in person.
