Assistant Principal News

Welcome to Term 2!

As always, a myriad of experiences await for our students, to allow them to showcase their talents and continue their holistic development and education while at MCC. In the sporting space our upcoming Athletics carnival, BISSA Cross Country and the commencement of the Bill Turner soccer season will push our athletes to achieve their best. Our upcoming Cabaret will be a polished showcase featuring our outstanding student and staff musicians, artists and actors. The learning opportunities, that are the core of our students' MCC experience, will continue to challenge our students to do their best everyday. Our Yr 12 leaders will also be honing their skills at our Yr 12 leadership evening combined with a visit from Burn Bright and Chris Doyle to assist our Yr 11 and 12 students to continue pushing towards achieving their goals

This week we commenced the term with a focus on the safety of our students and staff while on site. We have undertaken both a Lockdown and Evacuation drill, both of which were extremely successful. We undertake these drills once a semester as part of our safety compliance schedule.

With safety in mind it is important to highlight some key issues that have been raised about safety at the student ‘Pickup/Drop off’ car park.

  • Please do not drop off or collect students from Wakaden Street. As this is the designated bus area and an extremely busy road it is very unsafe for any students to cross this road during these times.
  • Please ensure you are following the correct procedure for the Student ‘Pick up/drop off’ car park. As highlighted in the photo cars are to enter via the one entry lanes and exit the car park via the two exit lanes. Please do not enter via the exit lanes, it goes against the flow of traffic and is extremely dangerous.
  • Please also be mindful of where you stop/park in the ‘pick up/drop off’ car park. Cars should only be parking in designated areas and not blocking traffic.
  • Please do not use the Wakaden Street entrance as a student drop off /pick up area.  This is for staff vehicles only.

We encourage students to utilise the bus service to minimise congestion in the student car park. However, it is worth noting that if you arrive to pick up your child after 3:25pm the ‘pick up’ area is very quiet and you will not be required to cue for extended periods of time to collect your child.

The safety of our students is paramount and we appreciate your support in this matter.

Yours in Learning,
