Message From Our

Principal

Dear Parents, Carers and Members of our School Community,

Cross Country last Friday

Last Friday saw the trials of our Annual Cross Country event, and it was a fantastic display of athleticism and spirit. A big thank you goes out to Mr. Nilbett for his meticulous organisation, ensuring the event's success. Our students truly shone as they tackled the course, demonstrating not only their fitness levels but also their determination. I also want to express my gratitude to the Sacred Heart Staff for their support in ensuring the safety of our students throughout the event.  Together, we made the Cross Country a memorable and enjoyable experience for all involved.  Congratulations to those students who qualified for the next level of representation.

Sacred Heart Open Day Information Sessions

Today was an exciting day for Sacred Heart, hosting two Open Day Information Sessions and School Tours for prospective families for the 2025 academic school year. The first of two sessions (at the time of writing my message) was well attended. A special thank you to our Year 1/2 students Violet, William, Evie, Alec and Dominic for their special contributions to the presentation.  They showed great courage as they presented to our visitors. Thank you also to our Year 6 School Tour Guides Nicholas, Lani, Eva, Isabelle, Kallen, Hayley, Ingrid, Grace, Olivia and Nathan for accompanying our visitors around our wonderful school.  You all did an wonderful job pointing out the many incredible reasons why Sacred Heart is a great school.  We look forward to welcoming more families at our afternoon session from 5:30pm.

Celebrating & Recognising our Mums this Friday!

Mothers' Day is fast approaching, and this year, along with our special Mothers' Day Mass, open classrooms, we will be inviting all our incredible mums to join us in a special morning tea in the Mercy Centre.  For catering purposes please let the administration team in the office know if you are able to come.  Following these festivities, our students will be involved in Mother's Day PPR activities, creating lovely keepsakes for their mums or special women figures in their lives.  I would like to extend all our Sacred Heart Mothers a very special and wonderful Mothers' Day on Sunday.  I hope you get truly spoiled by your families.  You deserve it!

Sacred Heart School Invites & Welcomes Feedback

As part of the schools annual action plan work, I will be seeking feedback from our school community regarding ways/strategies/events in which we can increase and strengthen the 'social connectiveness' and partnerships with our families.  A strong, open and engaging school community is vital for achieving our collective mission of growing the faith and learning outcomes of our students in our care for a hope-filled future.  The School Advisory Council will be meeting tonight to commence unpacking ways/strategies for responding/leading this important cultural work.  Over the coming weeks, parents will be invited to provide further thinking to support an action plan of improvement.  Sacred Heart has a rich history of strong parental engagement and partnerships and I, along with the School Advisory Council (and staff) wish to see this continue and strengthen.

Australian Early Development Census (AEDC):

Our school will take part in the AEDC between May and July this year. The AEDC is a national census conducted every three years by the Australian Government, in partnership with state and territory governments. It measures how children have developed by the time they start their first year of full-time school.

The AEDC is voluntary and does not measure how well children are doing at school or how their school compares to others. Instead, it shows how children are growing and progressing in five key areas, highlighting what is being done well and what can be improved. AEDC data is used by schools, early childhood organisations, researchers, and governments to plan and improve services and supports for children and families. This is why it is important for all children in their first year of school to be included in the AEDC.

To learn more about how AEDC data is used, visit https://www.aedc.gov.au/.

A detailed parent letter has be sent out via our Parent Portal (PAM) to provide families with further information regarding the survey.

As we continue through the term, let's carry forward this momentum of enthusiasm and dedication. Together, let's create more moments of joy, discovery, and achievement, nurturing the potential within each of our students and strengthening the bonds within our cherished Sacred Heart School Community.

Wishing you all a term filled with success, growth, and endless possibilities.

God bless,

Jamie McDowall
