Tim Furphy, Principal

Welcome to Term 2 everyone! We're straight back into it with students hitting the ground running. We have quite the term upcoming with the focus in classrooms being careers in our comunity, economics, business and all things money. We're looking forward to a few events this term, please keep an eye out for more information on our:

  • Careers day
  • Cake stall
  • Education Week activities (Week 5) - STEM theme (Science, Technoogy, Engineering, Maths)
  • Mothers Day morning tea (sssssshhhhhhhh)
  • 5/6 Cobaw Sport events
  • School Photo Day

Please note this is a longer term, 11 weeks in fact. We will have parent and teacher meetings towards the end of term to debrief the first semester and reset goals for the following two terms ahead.

REVISED OFFICE HOURS

Please be patient as we revise our staffed office hours.

Monday: 8:30 - 4:00

Tuesday - Friday: 9:15 - 4:00

If a payment is required to be done in person at the office, Monday morning is the best time. Alternatively, after school each day also works.  Please be patient while we do our best to accomodate the needs of our community.

You may see a new face around school on Fridays as we have Mrs Diane Moore in an acting Business Manager capacity (one day per week).  If you see her around please let her feel welcome.

SMILE SQUAD

NPS was lucky to have a visit from the Minster of Health, Mary-Anne Thomas last week to check out the Smile Squad team in action.  She was greeted by our leaders and heard all about the program. This past week was Smile Squad's first implementation into a school environment, it was great to see such a fantastic turn out for those interested. We hope students enjoyed the experience and learnt somethign along the way about teeth and oral hygeine. Thanks to the Smile Squad team for your efforts, it was a big success!

DRESS FOR THE WEATHER

The weather is turning and the days are getting more fresh. Please be mindul of dressing for the weather meaning pants, jumpers and jackets may become a more common uniiform over the next few months. As a 5 star sustainable school, we are unable to have our heaters blaring and students sitting nearby (to get warm) in shorts and t-shirts. Please remind students to rug up before coming, and we can set the heaters to a comfortable temperature in our classrooms!

BEANIES AVAILABLE

If you haven't yet done so, this is a reminder beanies are available to purchase from the office costing $20. We have seen plenty around the yard so far and are looking for more as the days get colder!

RESOURCE SMART SCHOOL OF THE YEAR AWARDS

Time for a little brag.... We have been selected as one of three finalists for the Resource Smart School of the Year. The winner will be announced at a ceremony at the MCG in early June. Thanks to Libby Fullard and all students for their tireless efforts in building our schools capacity to be ResourceSmart. Winners or not, it is a huge achievement for the school! Go NPS.
