As we warmly welcome you to Term 2 at WA College of Agriculture - Cunderdin (WACOAC) we are excited to embark on a journey of growth, learning, and connection. With a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm, we look forward to nurturing the wellbeing and potential of every individual within our school community.
We are thrilled to introduce Nina Grylls, our dedicated community engagement officer from Headspace. Nina has already begun making meaningful connections within our school community, spending time getting to know some of our Year 12 students last week. Moving forward, Nina will be running small workshops after dinner once a month, offering valuable insights and support on topics related to mental health and wellbeing. We are confident that Nina's expertise and passion for supporting young people will greatly benefit our students as they navigate the challenges of adolescence.
In the spirit of fostering inclusivity and appreciation for diverse cultures, we are excited to announce our upcoming Wellbeing and Cultural Appreciation Day. This special event will feature a range of engaging activities and workshops focusing on Indigenous culture, mental health, and wellbeing. Through interactive experiences and meaningful discussions, students will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Indigenous perspectives, learn valuable self-care strategies, and celebrate the richness of cultural diversity within our school community.
Furthermore, we are pleased to announce that Teen Mental Health First Aid training will be offered to our Year 11 students in the coming weeks. This valuable program equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to provide initial support to peers experiencing mental health challenges. By empowering students to recognise signs of distress and respond effectively, we aim to foster a supportive and resilient school community where every individual feels seen, heard, and valued.
As we approach ANZAC Day, we pause to reflect on the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who have served our countries. ANZAC Day holds special significance for all Australian and New Zealand peoples, serving as a reminder of the importance of courage, resilience, and unity in the face of adversity. We encourage students to participate in commemorative events and take a moment to honour the legacy of those who have served and continue to serve our nations with bravery and selflessness.
As we journey through Term 2 together, let us embrace each opportunity for growth, connection, and reflection. By supporting one another with kindness and empathy, we can create a school community where every individual thrives and flourishes.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in nurturing the wellbeing of our students.
