This term we are working on Biological Science.
Our F-2 Students are learning about how seeds grow and how plants sustain us. This week, they planted their seeds that they will be observing this term and eventually taking home.

Our 3/4 students are learning about producers, consumers and decomposers. This is in preparation for their ecosystem project which will begin next week!

Our 5/6 students are learning about Albert Einstein's work on relativity and Alfred Nobel's work in their fields. From next week, students will be learning about animal adaptations.

Across all year levels in the school, we have been looking at the illustrations in children's books and how we can recreate and design art based on them.
In Foundation we looked at Elmer and created our own patchwork elephants. This week we will be reading The Rainbow Fish and creating our own colourful fish with shimmering scales.
In Grade 1 and 2, we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and drew our own depiction of the character. This week we read: "Read the book, Lemmings!" and students created their own Lemmings using line to create texture.
In Grade 3 and 4, we read Pig the Pug and created a guided drawing of Pig. We used poly foam balls for his eyes and colourful background images.
In Grade 5 and 6, we looked at the works and collages of Jeannie Baker. We used magazines to create a collage of a beach scene, using light shades to dark shades.

In Health this term, students have been introduced to the Catastrophe Scale, a tool that we can use to define how light or severe a problem we face may be. We have also been discussing how we can cope with our problems on our own, and who we can ask for help when we can’t do it by ourselves.
Students across all year levels have been creating their own Catastrophe Scale in their workbooks, as well as helping each other to explain scenarios in which they can support one another.
Our focus for the next few weeks is to examine coping strategies, character strengths in ourselves and others, and identifying people we can trust and communicate with in and out of school.
