Grade 3/4

Reading

This term our focus in Reading is on summarising. Students have been reading narratives and working on summarising the texts from the beginning to the middle and end. Students have enjoyed conferencing with their teachers, and working on their reading goals and weekly tasks. 

Writing

This week grade 3/4s have been writing information reports. The 3/4s have been researching and planning their writing pieces on kangaroos. We have learned some interesting facts about kangaroos. Did you know that kangaroos can not walk backward and are left-handed!

Inquiry

Our inquiry topic for the term is on First Nations Peoples. We have been discussing the importance of acknowledging our history and understanding Aboriginal culture. 

We've looked at the Rainbow Serpent this week and particularly enjoyed reading Shake a Leg by Boori Monty Pryor & Jan Ormerod, a story about understanding our Country through dance and movement. 

Maths

This term we've started off maths with some problem-solving and group activities. Students have been enjoying working together to solve problems and discuss their reasoning. Students have also been working on fluency activities in numbers, playing games related to counting backwards and forwards.
