Argus-Xenica

Welcome to The Argus/Xenica Community Newsletter, we are in the middle of Term 2 and us teachers are so proud of the immense progress our students have made. 

Reading/Writing: In Reading, we are currently working on Phase 2 and 3 sounds, students have started to blend sounds to create a word. Thus far we have seen great success in the reading skills of our students. We are also presently working on CVC words; children are segmenting sounds to pronounce and write CVC words. We have commenced teaching students to create sentences and children are being taught simple sentence structure (capitalisation, spacing, and punctuation). We have also started to read big books together and students are asked to participate in activities related to the book. 

Maths: We have just finished learning about length; we have also previously exposed them to the basic concept of money, using many learning recourses and manipulatives to aid with this subject. We are also focusing on basic 2D shapes and sharing using various manipulatives such as counters and unifx blocks. 

Conclusion: We have seen a great level of consistent success throughout the cohort and expect to see further rooted understandings of basic conceptions within the students.
