Mr Irwin's Message

Hello families and welcome to this week’s newsletter.

Apologies for no video message this week. We're hosting schools at an open morning this morning and this afternoon have additional training we are participating in.

Open Night

It was wonderful to have such a large turnout at our Open Night. Thank you to all the families that popped in to say g'day to teachers, participate in the art mural (which looks great as a backdrop for assembly) and get something yummy from the food trucks.

Having a positive relationship with your child’s teacher is an important part of supporting your child’s success across the year and meeting them informally early in the year is a great way to start this off.

Our School Captains spoke really well at the end of the night, expressing their gratitude to those who supported the event to come together. I wanted to reiterate some of the messages they had from the night.

Tins for Teesdale

We have nearly completed registering for the Container Deposit Scheme. Teesdale Primary School can be chosen as an organisation to donate to at any Recycling Refund Point. We will use this as our main fundraiser for the year and it's such an easy one to get behind. Funds raised from this scheme will go towards grounds and kitchen garden improvements. So, the next time you’ve got some cans to deposit, think Tins for Teesdale!  Further information regarding our 'Tins for Teesdale' fundraising campaign will be made available once our registration is complete.

School Council

It was great to receive strong interest for School Council. At the close of nominations, we are pleased to announce the following Councillors for 2024.

Kim Farrell, Simon Murry, Amy Gormley, Kerry Dalziell and Rob McHenry. I look forward to working with them on Council across the year.

PLC LINK

This year Teesdale Primary School has been selected as a PLC (Professional Learning Community) LINK school, which means we are tasked with the responsibility of supporting our network schools to build their collaborative teaching and learning practices.

This morning, we had leaders and principals from ten schools from Ballarat, Bacchus Marsh and the Golden Plains visit for an open morning to hear about how our teachers plan together and also observe the wonderful practice that happens in our classrooms.

Last Thursday Miss Whyte and Miss Armstrong ran a ‘pop-up professional development’ session online for network schools on how we build robust teams across our school with the use of ‘norms’.

I’m really proud of our school for sharing this work this year and what it means for the quality of teaching and learning that happens at Teesdale Primary. I look forward to sharing more examples of the work we do across our system with you as the year progresses.

Bye for Now

Sam
