From the Head of Christian Life and Mission's Desk

Dear Christway College Kingston community

Thank you for welcoming me so warmly into the role of Head of Christian Life and Mission this year. The first term in a new community is always a bit of a whirlwind however I am grateful for the support, encouragement, and engagement I’ve received from the Kingston students and staff – thank you. Working across both campuses, my role encompasses oversight of chaplaincy, chapel services, Christian Life, missions, service, prayer and more.

This term I’ve loved speaking at Primary and Secondary chapel services at our Kingston campus, as well as sharing for whole school assembly and staff devotions. Secondary chapel this term saw us flowing with our Executive Principal’s theme of “Guided by His Light” from the Book of John and exploring the Person of Jesus through John 9 and other passages. We also had plenty of interactivity, Q&A, games, and times of worship beautifully led by our Chapel and Worship Prefects, Hannah Pendala and Brianna Nalliah. We looked forward to an exploration of the Stations of the Cross for our final chapel for the term on Wednesday 27 March, 9.30am. Primary chapel services throughout Term 1 were also very meaningful as Primary classes encouraged all students in the synergy values and their faith in God. I was blessed to share on confidence and resilience for two of the chapel services. We looked forward to our short Easter chapel to finish the term on Wednesday 27 March at 8.45am.

Missions trip planning and preparation are also underway as we look ahead to our Year 10 trip to Townsville and nearby indigenous communities at the end of Term 3 as well our Year 12 post-exam trip to Fiji in November. I’m grateful for our Missions and Service Prefects, Hannah Harrington, Josh Corera, and Nethaya Fernando who will be coordinating fundraising and awareness-raising activities during Term 2 and 3 including Missions Week in Week 7 of Term 2.

Wishing you a meaningful, safe and happy Easter as we reflect on all our Lord Jesus has won for us on the Cross and celebrate the new life we have in Him.
