NAPLAN
NAPLAN begins this week for the children in Year 3 and Year 5 at St John's. The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a series of tests focused on basic skills that are administered to all students in Australia in years 3, 5, 7 and 9 and provides a snapshot of a student's current reading, writing, language and numeracy skills. Results will be distributed to schools earlier this year so teachers are able to use the data straight away. NAPLAN is one form of assessment that we use at St John's as part of our assessment plan.
Our timetable is as follows:-
School Advisory Council
Tonight is our first School Advisory Council meeting at school at 6pm in the school's Boardroom and we welcome Jason Limbrick (Izzy Yr 3 and Gracie F) to our council. Tonight Paul Bissinella (GV Deanery Principal Consultant) will address the Council on their role.
Assembly this Friday
This Friday we will be hosting a full school assembly in the Mercy Centre beginning at 2:45pm, where Mrs Timplerley's Yr 3 /4 class will be presenting the prayer. Staff would appreciate that during the assembly toddlers need to remain with their parents to avoid causing a distraction.

Stations of the Cross
Each year our Year 6 leaders lead the school in a liturgy based on the Stations of the Cross to conclude Term 1 and lead us into Easter. This is one of the highlights of the year for our school leaders. This year it will be held in the Mercy Centre on Thursday 28th March (the last day of school) at 1.15pm . You are welcome to join us.
End of Term 1
A reminder to parents that Term 1 concludes on Thursday 28th March at 2:15pm. This is earlier finish than a usual school day.
Start of the school day
Over the past couple of weeks, we have had a number of students arrive at school before student supervision begins at 8:30am. Before this time teachers are in meetings and busy getting classes ready for the day and are unable to supervise students.
If you need to drop your child off at school before this time, please book them into TheirCare which operates before school care until 8:30 each morning. Thank you for your support with this.
Second hand uniforms
We would appreciate any donations of uniforms that you no longer need, to establish a uniform shop. Please drop donations at the front office.
Have a great week,
Libby Hamilton
