Primary School

As we settle into our new school year, our classroom learning communities have been buzzing. Our classrooms are continuing to build on relationships while establishing positive and respectful routines to enhance learning.  Over the past couple of weeks, we have already had incursions, webinars and a school camp in our Primary School. These experiences have provoked and deepened learning through hands on, real life experiences.

Many of our Primary classes have had a health focus for the beginning of this year, developing prosocial behaviours while also building their knowledge and expertise about maintaining healthy lifestyles which enhance learning and living.

Our classes have also engaged in German, Choir, Music, Art and Sport with all of our learners also visiting the library to experience the wonderful world of literature. This year we will be enforcing the rule of Primary learners requiring a library bag to borrow books from our library. Please help us with this by providing a clearly named library bag.

This week, two out of three Information afternoons have also been held and well attended. Thank you to all of our community members who joined us in these sessions. On Monday, February 19th our Year 4 and Year 2’s will host their Information sessions.

Just a gentle reminder for parents of Primary school students to please ensure that you have connected with your child’s class through SeeSaw. SeeSaw is a platform for you to view not only your child’s learning, but it is a crucial way for your child’s teacher to communicate with you. If you need assistance with this, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

Further, a few additional housekeeping reminders. Again your support with this is very much appreciated. Please ensure:

  • Hair that is longer than shoulder length is completely tied back.
  • Hats (bucket or legionnaire) and jumpers are clearly labelled for easy return
  • Students only have water in their water bottles
  • Healthy snacks and food are available in lunchboxes
  • Students have clearly named art smocks
  • Sports Uniforms are worn on sports days
  • School shoes are black leather (please see Student Handbook for further clarification).

Lastly, we would like to thank you for your support in a successful beginning of the year. It is wonderful to see our learners happy, settled, and ready to learn. As always please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

Year 2 First Aid Incursion

“The capacity to learn is a gift, the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice.” ~ Brian Herbert

On Wednesday the 14th of February 2024, St John Ambulance Australia visited our Year 2 students where they participated in a program to teach them all about the importance of first Aid and what to do in an event of an emergency. They touched on the DRS model, whereby the students were taught to check for ‘Danger’ and make sure that they are safe and not in any danger, to check the person in need of help for a ‘Response’ and to ‘Send for help’. They were introduced to Frank the test dummy and were all given an opportunity to practice how to check for a response.

This was a fantastic session that was enjoyed by all.

Year 4 Camp

The Year 4 students had a truly fantastic experience during the camp at Burnside Camp, Anglesea this week. It was truly a transformative journey for each and every student involved filled with laughter, learning and unforgettable experiences.

Throughout the camp, students had the opportunity to forge wonderful friendships, learn essential skills of independence and demonstrate remarkable resilience in the face of challenges. Engaging in a myriad of fun-filled activities, they not only had a blast but also honed their ability to work together and build confidence. Being outdoors and surrounded by flora and fauna, students were inspired by the beauty of nature and learned to appreciate God's amazing creation in all its splendor.

From conquering climbing walls to navigating through teamwork games, biking through scenic trails to soaring on the flying fox, aiming for the bullseye in archery to mastering low ropes courses and spiking their way to victory in volleyball, our students embraced every adventure with enthusiasm and determination.

Guided by experienced instructors who prioritised safety at every turn, our students were able to push their boundaries and discover their potential in a supportive environment. Teachers observed firsthand the incredible growth exhibited by our students throughout the camp. While some may have initially felt unsure, each child blossomed as they challenged themselves and stepped out of their comfort zones.

We extend our deepest gratitude to you, parents, for entrusting us with the opportunity to facilitate such a meaningful experience for your child. Your support is invaluable in fostering their growth and development.

As the camp draws to a close, we are thrilled to report that our Grade 4 students return with a newfound sense of readiness to tackle whatever challenges lie ahead. Armed with happy memories and newfound skills, they are well-equipped to embrace the journey ahead with confidence and enthusiasm.

Once again, thank you for your unwavering support and encouragement.
