A new year brings new and exciting opportunities for Nossal’s Student Representative Council (SRC).

With both old and new faces, the 2024 SRC has the perfect mix of experience and fresh, new ideas. Under the guidance of Ms Fiona De Zylva and Ms Jane Denman, we strive to amplify the views and ideas of our peers and bring meaningful change to our school community.

The SRC started 2024 with a strong focus on reflection and self-improvement, finding the ways that we can be even better at what we do.

To achieve this, the SRC had the opportunity to work with the Victorian Student Representative Council (VicSRC) to discuss ideas relating to several different aspects of the SRC, including structure, student engagement and passage of knowledge. Our aim was to ensure that the Nossal SRC is organised in a way that enables us to provide maximum benefit to our school community. The resulting ideas and opinions have all been combined to enable our SRC to continue to grow and improve for many years to come.

This year’s SRC events kicked off with our House Badge Sale at Swimming Carnival. It was great to see Nossal’s house spirit on full display, as students jumped at the chance to purchase our house badges, which they can now proudly display on their blazer lapel. The SRC then organised a Valentines Day card and serenade service, contributing to what was a fun and affectionate day for all.

More recently, the SRC played an active role in organising Nossal’s annual celebration of Harmony Week, a time where students can celebrate the diversity and multicultural nature of our school. With a myriad of activities and performances, our school community always had something to look forward to. The time and effort put in by our members was more than justified through the smiles, laughter and overall happiness we could see around the school. We are proud of all the work we put in to help make it all possible.

However, this is only the beginning, and the SRC have many more plans in store for the rest of the year, including Nossal Week, Select Entry Network competitions, World’s Greatest Shave and many more impactful events! Keep an eye out for what’s to come!
