Around the College

Year 7 Information Evening and Family Picnic

It was a pleasure to meet with our Year 7s and their families last Monday for the Information Session and Family Picnic.

Staff at Endeavour College value the opportunities we have to build connections with our parent community, especially those who have joined our community this year.

The relaxed setting of the southern yard, the tasty picnic boxes, and balmy weather made for a lovely evening of fun, fellowship and conversation as parents and caregivers got to know their children’s Care Group and Core Teachers.

We feel privileged and proud to be part of the village that is raising our Year 7 students and supporting them to step with courage into their lives as high school students.

Meet the German Exchange Students for 2024

Klara Holzner

Hello, my name is Klara Holzner, I’m 15 years old and I’m from Germany. My two sisters, my parents and I live in a small neighbourhood called ‘Armstorf’ which is in the county of Erding in Upper Bavaria.

My sisters’ names are Hannah (19) and Paula (17). We have two rabbits (Lino and Stella) who live in our garden.

My hobbies are horseback riding, playing the violin, reading and I love being creative. During the week I also like doing workouts to stay fit. For special occasions like birthdays, I often bake cakes. I really like spending time with my friends too.

They would describe me as an outgoing person with whom you can have a lot of fun but also talk about serious things.

My favourite subjects are Art, PE and French. Last year I did an exchange to Corsica, France. Even though it was only for a week I could improve my French.

I really enjoy being here in Australia. I’ve already got to know a lot of new people and I could see Adelaide and it’s surrounding like the sea and Barossa. The weather is very different to the temperatures in Germany, but I really love it.

Paula Schafer

My name is Paula and I´m 15 years old. In my free time I like meeting my friends, reading as well as playing tennis and going kick boxing.

I also play the flute in two orchestras and I take lessons in playing the flute and the piano. I’m interested in sports in general, especially soccer, and really like listening to music.

My friends describe me as an outgoing, funny and reliable person. I have a twin sister, Julia, and an older sister, Anna, who is 20 years old.

My sisters, my mum and me live in Bavaria, Germany. There we live a house in Karlstein which is a village of 8000 inhabitants about 50 kilometres from Frankfurt.

My school is in Alzenau. It takes 15 minutes to get there by bus. Lessons start at 8 a.m and finish at 3:15 p.m. My favourite subjects in school are Biology, Geography and P.E and I chose to do Latin and IT.

I’m excited to be here and have the opportunity to get to know Australia, the school system and everyday life and seeing what is different from life in Germany.

Kayla Thompson

Hello, my name is Kayla. I’m the German exchange student. I come from Erlangen in Bavaria. My family partly comes from Turkey and America. My hobby is playing Volleyball.

My host sister is Amity. I like the weather here and the people are very nice and open. I also love the beaches. The lessons are more laid back here, and the teachers are more open, which is very refreshing. Also, I like the whole village concept. I’m interested in learning about the Australian culture and day to day life.

Thank you for having me.
