From the Principal

Today, we officially opened the Discovery Centre – our latest learning space that integrates contemporary, immersive virtual reality and augmented reality technology with traditional teaching experiences.

Joining us at the opening, Mr Michael Brown, MP State Member for Florey, helped to launch the Discovery Centre as a place in our school that aims to provide opportunities for our students to thrive into the future. The ability to develop capabilities extends beyond careers in STEM, as students learn and experience their local, international, and virtual worlds, enhancing representation and belonging for the diverse student community.

As Sandra Barry, Director of Learning said “What are schools if not to give students a view to a future, a view to the possibilities of their future and then the skills to be able to make that happen? The College’s Vision for Learners with its three pillars of Independence, Interdependence and Collective Action is very much about preparing students for their futures.” The ability to provide our students with an empathetic understanding of the world beyond the immediate is a powerful thing, and now, our students can experience the world in this immersive environment. As our students are immersed in the experiences of others, they become greater advocates for themselves, their peers, and others in the community.

While we at Endeavour may be the first Lutheran Independent Secondary School to offer this in South Australia, it is more about being prepared; preparing our students for a future workforce, with jobs that are still unknown and for industries that are already using this type of technology. Our students will be forefront leaders in using this technology to innovate, problem-solve, and create a better future for all.

We thank the involvement of all those who have brought this space to life including the immeasurable expertise from Lumination Learning Lab, Comace, Poddiy, Arkvale Architects and our committed staff and Lab Champions who will embed this learning experience across our curriculum.

A special thank you also extends to our Student Executive, for welcoming guests and assisting and coaching them through the experiences themselves.
