SKiPPS Fete - Thank Yous

As Neil shared in his Principal's Report, Saturday's Fete exceeded expectations on every level.

After such a big event, there is a massive list of people to thank. The below people and groups all contributed to making the fete so memorable. I am sure there are others who will we also thank in time but, for starters, we want to say a massive thank you to;

The Fete Committee

This group of parents have been hard at work for almost a year to gather ideas, make plans and pull off the fete. Whilst each member of the team had their own area of responsibility, they pulled together and provided the support to ensure everything went so smoothly. Without them, there would have been no fete.

It is also worth thanking them for backing up their monumental efforts on Saturday by returning on Sunday and making sure that the school and grounds were spotless and all equipment was cleaned, returned and tidied away. What a team!

The Volunteers

There were 209 volunteer slots on the day and it is testament to our school community that these were all filled without too much drama. We want to thank everyone who found the time to serve on a stall, cook burgers, paint faces, collect rubbish or in the many other ways required. While we want to thank everyone, a few volunteers in particular need acknowledging;

• Sylvia Xing (mum of Lucas 34J and Roman 34E) - A new parent to the school who only arrived from China the day before school started. She volunteered all afternoon including the clean up. 

• Derek Ford (dad of Loretta 34J and Anika 56G) - Always the first person to volunteer for clean up at any school event and was cooking burgers all afternoon.

• Nova Young (mum of Oskar 56MS) - Even though her child wasn't in attendance at the fete, Nova came along and volunteered her time all afternoon, even with an injury

• Justin Benson (dad of Alex 34E and Xavier 56MS) - willingly jumped into the dunk tank to help empty the water out of it then followed it straight up with shifts on the BBQ and Silent Auction

• Sophie Alexander (mum of Cooper 56L) - worked tirelessly in the afternoon and still came back on the Sunday to help make the school look great again

• Elana Kopke (mum of Ada 12L) - also came along all day on Sunday to help clean up

• The parents who came in for set up - David Tynan (dad of Orphelia FJ), Michael Kasar (dad of Harriet 12L), Matthew Grosvenor (parent of Wren FJ), Alban Girard (dad of Gappy 56L), Maja Djuricic (mum of Ari 12J) and Matthew Barbuto (dad of Kenzie 12P)

• The parents who put their hands up for waste management - Samuel Van DeKerkhof (dad of Luna FB), Brock Mareld (dad of Arden FN), Nicolas Andrade (dad of Estela FB), Brian Price (dad of Hudson 12L), Stephen Sholl (dad of Leo FB), Elana Kopke (mum of Ada 12L) , Artem Butsev (dad of Olivia FB)

• Beth Stevens (mum of Violet 34B and Aurora Foundation N), Isla Shaw (mum of Scarlett 56M) and the parents who helped set up the silent auction room on the Friday.

• The parents who came back to the school for pack up, even after they attended in the morning for the Foundation performance, then they went home with their children and specifically came back to the school to fill these spots - Artem Butsev (dad of Olivia FB), Jon Dodd (dad of Laine FB), Rebecca Fraser (mum of Laine FB).

The fete is our major fundraising event of the year. The funds that are provided to us each year by Government allow us to provide the basics for our students and to maintain the current condition of our buildings and grounds.

In order to do anything more ambitious we need to raise funds in different ways and our events such as our fete are a big part of this. The money raised form this year's event will allow us to resurface our cracked and damaged basketball court - something all of our students and families will benefit from.

The generosity of our fete sponsors and the many individuals and companies who donated to our silent auction allows us to ensure that the fete makes a substantial financial return for the school. We would like to thank;
